This class met the relational learning outcomes by helping me connect what I learned to real-life situations and other areas of knowledge. Through studying early civilizations, I was able to relate historical ideas, cultural practices and belief systems to modern society and my own experiences. Assignments like discussions and the portfolio project pushed me to think about how past cultures influence today’s world, especially in areas like social structure, values, and communication. I also connected what I learned in this course to my studies in human services, seeing how understanding different cultures can improve how we support and interact with others.
