'The Matrix' is a universe that is centered around the philosophical ideology that our reality may not be real. The protagonist of this thought-provoking film is Neo, who is offered two pills; one red and one blue. The blue pill allows the protagonist to feign ignorance, whereas the red pill allows them to learn a potentially unsettling truth. Before taking either, Neo should have inquired about these medications. What are they? What do they do? Do they have any side effects? Neo
doesn't have enough information from Morpheus to make a wise decision, and perhaps he has chosen the wrong one. Nonetheless, these are questions every patient should be asking, and every healthcare professional should be able to answer.
I believe that Pharmacists are essential healthcare providers, they answer important questions, so every patient can make an informed decision regarding their medication. As an aspiring pharmacist, this is my goal. I want to help make healthcare more accessible to underrepresented communities. I can’t begin to count how many times my non-English-speaking mother has taken medication simply because she was told to. Patients like my mother deserve better, and I hope to be the pharmacist that does better.
The goals I have for myself during the next 1-5 year(s) are as follows:
Being able to maintain a near-perfect grade point average
Being a pharmacy technician or a hospital pharmacist intern
Being able to understand what is expected of me as a pharmacy student and an aspiring pharmacist
Being able to maintain my mental health while enjoying my time taking courses at St. John's University
The goals I have for myself for the next 5-10 years are as follows:
Being able to build a career in the pharmaceutical industry
Being able to enjoy my job and teach others about pharmacy
Being able to learn more about pharmacy and implement what I have already learned
The goals I have for myself for the next 15 years are as follows:
Being able to have a direct impact on my community
Being able to build meaningful relationships professionally
Being able to teach others about pharmacy and its importance

Perhaps my biggest accomplishment to date is the completion of what is known as the 'Smart Scholars' program at my high school. Students who earn the privilege of being admitted into the program, choose a major of either Biology or Computer Science and pursue an associate's degree while they maintain satisfactory performance in their advanced placement courses in the high school section.
I was beyond excited in tenth grade when I was notified of my acceptance. I have always had what is referred to as imposter syndrome. regardless of my academic accomplishments, I always felt inferior to my other classmates. Smart Scholars allowed me to take classes with other college students and forced me to face this insecurity of mine. While this inferiority complex is something I still face, this degree is much more than a piece of paper to me.
Whilst I was completing the program, I faced many personal challenges, that hindered my ability to focus in a classroom setting. Nonetheless, I finished at the top of my class. This program was a major accomplishment because it made me realize that progress can be defined in many ways, but the most important thing is to always keep trying despite your fears.
I found the Clifton Strengths assessment to be for the most part accurate. I believe that I do encompass these strengths to different extents, but I was surprised to see the order of my strengths. While my immense discipline and individual character traits may have gotten me to where I am today, I believe my empathy is the reason I've always wanted to pursue a career in medicine. I want to use my strengths, and build on them, so that I can achieve my goals.
