My Bio: Jennifer Bishop
A Little About Me
Ever since I was little, I have wanted to be a nurse. I wanted to help people, and I soon realized that I have a natural grasp of medical information. As I grew older, I shifted my focus from nursing to helping people from an office setting. I wanted to use my intelligence rather than my body, which would let me work harder and retire at a later age.
I worked for many years as a home health aide, which I loved, and then I shifted into my love of medical information by working in a call center for an insurance company. After starting at this company, I quickly learned that we had a partnership with a local college for medical reimbursement and coding. Within one phone call and a brief conversation with my husband, I was enrolled in school. Enrolling in school for my associate's degree in Medical Reimbursement and Coding was the best decision I have ever made. I have fallen in love with the research of finding the correct information to get providers adequately paid and patients billed correctly.

Goals (Personal & Professional): Jennifer Bishop
My Professional and Personal Goals
My professional goal, now that I have graduated from Bryant and Stratton College on my anticipated graduation date of December 20, 2021, is to complete my next coding certification, the CCS-P. After that, I would like to find a job that turns into a career using my new degree and certifications.
I want to find the newfound time after graduation to enjoy life fully. The past year and a half, although worth it, has been stressful. I am currently working full time, going to school full time, and am leaving little time for myself. I realize there will be an uneasiness to being a newly certified coder dipping my toe in the proverbial deep end, but I owe it to myself and those around me to fully participate in my life. There is more to working and paying bills, and learning to enjoy my downtime, which I have missed entirely, will allow me to rest and come to work recharged and ready for action.
