Biography

I am a dedicated case manager with a background in housing support, client advocacy, and special education. I currently work at Jerusalem House, assisting individuals in securing stable housing and connecting them with essential resources. With experience in education and outreach, I promote self-advocacy and independence for at-risk populations. I hold an A.S. in Arts and Social Science from Atlanta Metropolitan State College. I am passionate about social justice and committed to making a lasting impact in my community.

Diagnosing Personality disorders

Overview
I wrote a report that compared and contrasted Major Depressive Disorder and Generalized Anxiety Disorder as outlined in the DSM-5-TR. my report described the two conditions, their diagnostic criteria, prevalence, causes, symptoms, and treatment options focused specifically on childhood and adolescence.

Outcomes

  • I learned about overlapping symptoms and comorbidities
  • Emotional and cognitive patterns
  • Difference in triggers and response to treatment

Reflection

The project helped me to understand different mental disorders, diagnose them and offer the right help for children and adolescents suffering from them. It will help me become a better case manager in social work

Community Housing Advocacy for Individuals Living with HIV

 Project Overview

As a case manager, I actively engaged with community organizations, housing authorities, and advocacy groups to improve housing access for individuals living with HIV. By participating in professional networks and local initiatives, I strengthened my ability to serve clients and helped create a more inclusive housing system.

Implementation Process

  • Excelled in community engagement by attending local housing coalition meetings and collaborated with non-profits to advocate for policy improvements.

Applying Trauma-Informed Care Principles to My Clients

Overview

As a case manager working with individuals living with HIV, I recognized that many of them experienced trauma, affecting their ability to engage in housing programs. Drawing on my previous experience, I adapted these principles to improve client interactions and service delivery in housing support.

Objectives

  • Enhance client engagement and trust by creating a supportive and understanding environment.
  • Develop training materials to educate colleagues on trauma-informed approaches in housing services.
  • Used my Prior Experience early education to identify signs of trauma, integrated active listening and validation techniques to foster trust with clients
  • Adjusted communication styles to consider trauma by use of clear and reassuring language.
  • Trained my colleagues on trauma0informed care in housing services and encouraged them to engage clients positively and be on the lookout for possible trauma symptoms

Enhancing Public Awareness on HIV Housing Support Programs

Objective:
To utilize technology and research skills to gather, evaluate, and effectively communicate information about housing support programs available for individuals living with HIV.

Project Description:
working as a case manager, I recognized a gap in awareness regarding housing assistance programs for people living with HIV. To address this I:

  • Researched reliable sources
  • Evaluated data and organized it to show key insights
  • Created a PowerPoint presentation and infographics to summarize findings
  • Delivered the PowerPoint to the stakeholders and shared a PDF file of the presentation
  • Evaluated the impact through use of a questionnaire

Outcome:
This project enhanced access to critical housing information, empowering stakeholders to understand the client needs and also help clients to locate and evaluate available information.
