Goals (Personal & Professional): Judy Griffin
My Goals
I am at the end of obtaining my Associates Degree in Medical Coding and Reimbursement.
I plan on scheduling my CCA Exam certification in the next few weeks. Then after I take the CCS-P mock exam and get a passing score, I will schedule to take that exam certification.  I'm hoping that I will get a remote job (my dream job), or a job locally, any setting is fine to start for me. I'm flexible when it comes to learning the companies programs, software and policies.

Courses Taken: Judy Griffin
MCCG 262 Professional Code Practicum II
An advanced , hands-on medical coding training program (often AAPC Practicode 2.0 or a college-level equivalent like Bryant & Stratton's MCCG 262) designed to help bridge the gap between education and employment by coding real-world, redacted medical records.
Courses Taken: Judy Griffin
MCCG 212 Advanced ICD Diagnostic Coding
Requires high-level specificity, applying detailed guidelines for inpatient (PCS) and (CM) scenarios to ensure accurate reimbursement and risk adjustment. Mastering chapter - specific guidelines, Present on Admission (POA) indicators, and complex condition coding.
Courses Taken: Judy Griffin
MCCG 240 Evaluation and Management Services
These services are coded using CPT Codes 99202-99499 to document visits such as office, hospital, nursing facility, and preventive care, based on complexity and setting. E/M services are a critical category of healthcare, comprising about 40% of Medicare payments, that involve physician or qualified healthcare professional assessment and management of patient health.
Courses Taken: Judy Griffin
MCCG 222 Advanced CPT & HCPCS Level II Coding
Involves precise, rule-based application of codes for complex, often non-physician, services, supplies, and durable medical equipment (DMEPOS). It focuses on navigating high-level documentation to select accurate alphanumeric codes ( J-codes, E-codes) for Medicare and insurance reimbursement.
Courses Taken: Judy Griffin
MCCG 210 Clinical Documentation
The accurate, timely, and secure recording of a patient's health information. Including assessments, diagnoses, treatment plans, and progress notes- within an Electronic Health Record (EHR). This is the information coders read to code cases.
Courses Taken: Judy Griffin
SOSC 255 Career Dev II Theory & Practice
Involving active, ongoing strategies designed to manage and advance a professional's path through skill acquisition, networking, and goal planning.
Courses Taken: Judy Griffin
MCCG 150 ICD Procedural Coding
This type of coding is used in a inpatient setting. It is mandatory for hospital facility billing. It consists of alphanumeric codes to describe the specific procedure, distinguishing it from ICD-10-CM and CPT. Each character provides a specific detail: Section, Body System, Root Operation, Body Part, Approach, Device, and Qualifier.
Courses Taken: Judy Griffin
MCCG 143 Human Disease & Drug Pharmacology
Pharmacology is the study of how medications ( natural or synthetic)  interact with the body to treat, prevent, or diagnose human disease, encompassing drug composition, action and, most importantly, PKPD relationships. It involves understanding Pharmacokinetics (body's effect on the drug: absorption, metabolism, elimination) and Pharacodynamics (drug's effect on the body). This field informs optimal dosing and therapeutic strategies to manage diseases effectively.
Courses Taken: Judy Griffin
MCCG 146 CPT and HCPCS Level II Coding
Are standardized coding systems used for medical billing, with CPT covering provider services/ procedures and HCPCS Level II covering products, supplies, and non-physician services. CPT is numeric and 5 characters and HCPCS Level II are 1 letter + 4 numbers. There are also modifiers to apply to certain situations. There are also alphabetical and tabular list to look up the code.
Courses Taken: Judy Griffin
MCCG 137 ICD Diagnostic Coding
A standardized, alphanumeric system used by providers to classify diseases, symptoms, and injuries for medical billing, insurance reimbursement, and tracking healthcare quality. These alphanumeric codes (3-7 characters) provide high specificity for accurate documentation of patient conditions.
Courses Taken: Judy Griffin
HCAS 133 Survey of Anatomy & Physiology
Introduction to the basic structure (anatomy) and function ( physiology) of the human body. It provides an overview of body systems, including the integumentary, skeletal, muscular, nervous, endocrine, cardiovascular, digestive, respiratory, urinary, and reproductive systems. System overview of organ systems, including their  structure, location, and interaction with the body. Anatomical terminology, body planes, basic chemistry/cell biology, and homeostasis introduction.
Courses Taken: Judy Griffin
HCAS 129 Electronic Health Records
Are digital, patient-centered, and real-time records of a patient's comprehensive medical history, including diagnoses, medications, and lab results, designed to be securely shared across different healthcare settings. They improve care coordination and reduce errors but may have usability issues.
Courses Taken: Judy Griffin
MCCG 100 Intro Reimbursement/Coding
The process of translating clinical documentation-diagnosis, procedures, and services-into standardized, alphanumeric codes (CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10) for billing insurance providers, Medicare, and Medicaid. These codes are essential for ensuring accurate, compliant reimbursement, as they define what service was performed and why it was necessary.
Courses Taken: Judy Griffin
HCAS 123 Healthcare Terminology
A standardized, specialized language-comprising prefixes, roots, and suffixes-used to accurately describe anatomy, conditions, and procedures. Including diagnostic codes, drug names, and abbreviations, often organized by systems like SNOMED CT. It ensures precise communication among providers and in patient records.
Courses Taken: Judy Griffin
COMM 104 Learning Communities
Learning about the different  programs, social media sites, You Tube, AHIMA, CMS, and other coding and guideline websites that you can engage and learn valuable information. The different ways you learn to communicate with different cultures, communities and situations.
Courses Taken: Judy Griffin
INFT 124 Computing Skills
Learning the different programs in Office 360, Excel, Power Point, Word. Teams, Share Point and much more. Learning the different technology in coding as in the AHIMA VLab 3M Encoder. How to query a physician, when the documentation is not correct in supporting the scenario. Inside the 3M Encoder there are resources to help guide you in correctly coding patient records.
