I m currently working towards my associate's degree in Business Management on-line at Bryant and Stratton College. The reason for me pursuing my degree was because I want to start my own business as an owner of a laundromat. Felt I needed to get knowledge on the business side, and I wanted to accomplish getting a college diploma. I also was having a challenging time finding a job that I could work because I have Lupus and COPD, there’s many reasons why I can’t work but I’m determined to start my own business and in the laundry service I don’t have to do a lot of work I can make up my own hours and sit down until I’m needed. Worked as switchboard operator and the job was a easy job until my memory was being affected by my medication. There were a lot of rules, regulations, and procedures to follow and I couldn’t remember them. So, I got let go.
So, I’m hoping getting my degree in business will help me get closer to my career path as a business owner. I signed into my LinkedIn I immediately identified with a couple of people in my field of business wanting or owning a laundromat. Tyson Hodge a Hispanic male who is the first person I sent a message to he is a CEO of management company he specializes in Digital Marketing. And I connected with Adrian Pierce who is a Caucasian male who works as a Staffing Manager at Samerican Group in Chicago, Illinois, not in field of choice but because he’s in charge of staffing and his skills in building strong client relationships and conducting searches for the best candidates for what ever position. I also searched for business owners, and I messaged Aden A. He is an operations Manager but what stuck to me was that he has his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in Accounting.
Out of the people I contacted no one responded back but that is ok I was searching for business owners, but I didn’t find any but I agree that LinkedIn isn’t about getting contacts but it’s about building connections and relationships strategic connections it’s a powerful tool on insight of your industry and it can unlock opportunities if you’re consistent.
