My personal mission statement that I live by is that perseverence is key. Once you set a goal, see it through, work at it, and it will be accomplished. Growing up, my family has always inspired me. Whether it was food drives at our local church or lending a helping hand to someone in need, helping the community has always been a top priority in my family. I became interested in healthcare at a young age; I knew I wanted a career where I could help patients in need. When it came time to think about what I wanted to study or become in the future, I knew that getting involved in the health field would be a rewarding way to continue to help others. Naturally, I am a very determined and driven person. The dedication to helping patients and being part of a team that makes a difference in people's lives has always been very fascinating. I have been enrolled in rigorous science classes throughout high school, and I have applied determination to immerse myself in learning, knowing that my future career depends on the knowledge I gain from this field of study.
My interest in pharmacy came a little later in high school. I was researching several healthcare professions; it was clear to me that pharmacists play a crucial role in ensuring patients get the right medication and keep them safe. My junior year solidified my decision to study pharmacy. I admired the idea of standing at the forefront of patient care. I have been drawn to the complexity of the health field, specifically Pharmaceutical Science, to help, heal, and educate people. My goal is to work as a clinical pharmacist in a hospital setting where I can interact directly with patients and healthcare teams. The thought of being on rotations in a hospital and being able to help people when it matters most simply inspires me. Knowing that I can make a difference at a time when one is most helpless is the best reward there is.
Determination is probably one of the greatest strengths that I possess. When I set my mind on doing something, I ensure it is accomplished. That has been my life principle, making me work hard toward achieving my goals. I am committed to using that towards my growth as a pharmacist and helping my patients as well as my community just as I was taught growing up.

A pharmacist, to me, is someone essential to the community. Pharmacists are dedicated to their patient's care and the community's well-being. Pharmacists are medical professionals who focus their efforts on bettering the medical field. A pharmacist advises, helps, and cares. A pharmacist works with other healthcare professionals to ensure their patients' best physical and mental health.
Helping others is one of the most important things we can do, and the thought of being a pharmacist who can help, counsel, and care for patients really inspired me. This very reason was another element that made me decide on pharmacy for my future career. I have always been fascinated by medicine and health care in general. Health professionals commit themselves to making other people healthier. While I was in high school, I did some research about health professional jobs and found out that the pharmacist plays a very vital role in connecting the medication and care of patients. Relating science to a passion for making a difference in people's lives fits my interests. What excites me most about this field is its diversity: there are so many paths one can impact in different ways and settings. Clinical pharmacy reallyst because this practice allows pharmacists to deal directly with draws my intere patients, be hands-on in the improvement of health, and be an important part of the health care team.
I chose St. John's University as my university for the next 6 years for many reasons. However, the biggest reason was the structure and ideals of pharmacy school at St. Johns University. I applied to many pharmacy schools and got into almost all of them; however, the thing that was different about the St. John's program versus other pharmacy programs was the zero-to-six structure. Many schools structure their pharmacy program with two years of prerequisites, which are then followed by an application process into the actual school of pharmacy. I loved the structure of St. John's pharmacy program because there is no competition; once you are in the pharmacy program, you are in, and there is immense help to get you through the program. This leads me to the ideal pharmacy program. I love the idea of helping others, serving others, and advising patients as a pharmacist. I admire the structure and ideal of the pharmacy program at St. Johns and can't wait to graduate as a pharmacist after 6 years!
What surprised me about my strengths was that the "Influencing theme" came out in the majority. Although I consider myself very outspoken and passionate about influencing others, sometimes I feel just as comfortable working behind the scenes. I believe this balance gives others the chance to step up and take the lead, fostering growth and making sure others are heard.
The strength of "Achiever" being my top strength resonates with me because, over the years, I have developed strong time management skills. I believe that because of this, I have grown to be a productive and hardworking individual. Additionally, I am determined to reach my goals. When I set my mind to something, I am committed to seeing it through to success. I plan to use my strengths of "achiever" to continue to be productive and focus on setting my mind on my future goals, such as completing pharmacy school and becoming a clinical pharmacist in a hospital setting. Similarly, I plan to use my strengths of "Woo" and "communication" to vocalize my thoughts and ideas on how to better the community, patient health care, and medications. As for my strength as a "learner" and "positivity", I believe that these two strengths go hand in hand. For example, as someone with "Learner" strength, I have a strong desire to continually learn more. Combined with the "Positivity" strength, this enables me to approach learning with enthusiasm and excitement, making the process enjoyable and fulfilling.
