Attendance Small Group, "Your Attendance Matters." A group of diverse 6-8 grade students with chronic absenteeism. The group focused on school success and interventions for students to improve attendance.

Incoorporating student's religious and spiritual needs can be a tricky part of a school counselor's role in the public school system. I firmly believe in my faith and find ways to show God in my daily actions. Students have the right to a well-rounded school counseling program and that includes meeting their spiritual, or absence of needs.
Throughout my K-12 experience, I have learned the value of stakeholders. Many students I have encountered I recieved insight from family. I also know the value of the community and the resources available for the students. Overall, it is crucial for school counselors to have open communication and gain support from family, community, and other stakeholders for the benefit of the student(s).
During my field experience, I have learned what it means to be a school counselor. School counselors are highly trained professionals who are tasked with supporting the well-being of thier students. To be a supportive school counselor is not an individual task, collaboration and consultation is a key-part to the success of a school counselor. School counselors must possess skills to communicate effectively and create action plans, goals, and programs for the betterment of thier students and school community.
