ECED 108 Language and Literacy helps me understand the stages and steady progression of reading and writing skills in young children, especially in younger children. This course emphasized the importance of literacy development that should be integrated into play and other areas. This course helps me in my current classroom to add more reading moments to my daily activities. Learning about theory-based instruction and how to use theories to plan developmentally appropriate activities. I learned how to utilize informal assessment tools to evaluate my students' progress, how to help them learn, and how to help parents be more informed about their child.
