The mission I live by is to "strive for academic excellence while remaining grounded, fostering empathy, and making a positive impact with everything I accomplish". I chose a career in pharmacy because I have always been fascinated by the role that medications play in treating and managing diseases. I have a passion for healthcare and helping others. In a pharmacy career, I could directly impact patient lives. Pharmacy with the use of chemistry, biology, patient care, and medical science allows me to make a meaningful difference in people’s health. Additionally, I wanted to be in a profession where I could directly impact patients' lives. My vision for pharmacy practice is to go beyond medication dispensing and become a more crucial role in healthcare. I believe pharmacists can help other healthcare professionals, provide medications, educate patients, and contribute to preventive care. With advancements in technology and personalized medicine, I envision a future where pharmacists utilize drug therapies, reduce medication errors, and improve health outcomes. I am also passionate about increasing patient access to good pharmaceutical care, especially in neglected communities. My primary goal is to become a licensed pharmacist and specialize in a field where I can have a direct impact, such as clinical pharmacy, pharmaceutical research, or industry. I aim to continue my education and always stay on top of any new medications that are coming out. I aim to gain expertise in patient counseling, medication therapy management, and pharmaceutical sciences. In order to achieve these goals first and foremost I will stay committed to my education and gain hands-on experience and engage in research opportunities through jobs and internships. Being a pharmacist is important to me because it allows me to be an essential part of the healthcare system, ensuring that patients receive the right medications safely and effectively. I am passionate about this career choice as pharmacists have the ability to work between doctors and patients, helping individuals understand their treatments and make informed decisions about their health. The opportunity to build relationships with patients and positively impact their well-being makes this career deeply fulfilling. My strengths include my dedication, detail oriented-ness, and communication skills. My strong problem-solving skills and analytical thinking allow me to assess information effectively. I am also an excellent communicator, which helps me educate patients and collaborate with other healthcare professionals. Additionally, I am highly adaptable and committed to lifelong learning, always striving to expand my knowledge and stay updated on advancements in pharmaceutical sciences. My passion for patient care, strong work ethic, and ability to work under pressure make me well-suited for a successful career in pharmacy.
In the next five years, my goal is to continue my education as a pharmacy major at St. John’s University. I intend to seize every opportunity that comes my way. I am committed to looking for potential job and internship opportunities in order to get more hands-on experience in pharmacy. Through my dedication and desire to learn, I want to continue expanding and enhancing my skills and knowledge in order to create a solid path for my future career.
In the next five to ten years, I would like to continue my education and go into law school with my pharmacy background. I could work as a pharmacist or later as a pharmaceutical lawyer or patent lawyer. I intend to pursue any education that aligns with these career goals. I am set on my goals now but willing to see where my career and education take me.

1. What does being a pharmacist mean?
Being a pharmacist means doing what you can to help others in the safe and effective use and administration of medicine. Pharmacists are responsible for giving out prescriptions assigned by doctors but also ensuring that those prescriptions are accurately curated to the patient’s needs. Pharmacists counsel patients on proper medication use, monitor drug interactions and collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize treatment plans. They play a crucial role in managing chronic conditions, compounding medications, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Pharmacists use their expertise in chemistry, biology, and medical sciences to improve patient outcomes. With a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree and required licensing, pharmacists serve as trusted medication experts, they are very accessible professionals you can easily go to when you need any kind of recommendation on a medicine you may need, they are there to help you.
2. Why did you choose pharmacy?
I chose pharmacy as my major because I want to be able to help others. I have a passion for healthcare, science, and helping others. Pharmacy blends chemistry, biology, and medicine, allowing me to make a direct impact on people’s health by ensuring they receive safe and effective medications. Being a pharmacist seems simple, but in reality it is a very complex and important job that fascinates me.The profession offers many career opportunities, from working in retail like CVS or hospital settings to research or drug development roles. I enjoy problem-solving, patient care, and the challenge of understanding how medications work, which makes pharmacy the perfect career choice. Additionally, the field offers job stability, financial security, and the chance to continuously learn as medical advancements evolve. This is very important to me because I know that there will always be something for me out there and I will find what works best for me.
3. Why did you choose St. John’s University?
I chose to study pharmacy at St. John’s University because of its strong pharmacy program. This is a program that not many other schools provide and its location in New York offers access to top healthcare facilities, hospitals, and pharmaceutical companies. This opens doors to many opportunities that I may want to take part in. The university’s Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program provides a rigorous curriculum, hands-on clinical experience, and opportunities for research, internships, and networking in one of the most dynamic cities in the world. The program is harder as it is an accelerated 6-year program, rather than an 8-year one, but that allows me to look for jobs faster and start working to where I want to be at a younger age. Additionally, St. John’s emphasizes service and leadership, preparing students to become compassionate and skilled healthcare professionals which is what I am to be.
My top five strengths are: achiever, developer, positivity, woo, and learner. I was surprised about how on-point my strengths are and how well they describe me as a person. Finding out my strengths put a name to all the traits I have and how they complement each other and shape my approach to various aspects of life and work. In addition to things I already knew about myself, the descriptions revealed things I didn’t fully appreciate or care for before deepening my understanding of what it really means. Learning my strengths allowed me to understand my capabilities and potential areas for growth. Discovering my strengths has been both a surprising and empowering experience, giving me more motivation to pursue my goals. I’ve always been told I was very ambitious which is what being an achiever essentially is, it pushes me to go above and beyond with anything and everything I do. Everyday I wake up wanting to accomplish something, I have the motivation to work my hardest in everything which will be well utilized in helping me accomplish my goals as I don’t ever give up. I will make my goals a reality because anything is possible if you just put your mind to it. Developers work well with others and see the potential in everyone which is perfect for my career goals as they include communication with patients and colleagues. As for positivity, I am a very positive person, I celebrate every achievement and always try to make light of every situation especially for others. Being kind and positive is important in life in general as we all need some happiness to be able to live an accomplished life. Woo stands for winning others over which goes hand-in-hand with my developer strength as I am a very open person, I enjoy public speaking and am not afraid to speak up in any situation which is helpful for voicing any concerns and making myself someone that can be trusted and easily talked to. Being a learner means I constantly strive to learn more and improve, as a future pharmacist and lawyer I will need to be learning new things every day and keeping up with every new medication or law that may be made and how everything works together.
