CPR and AED Certificate
CPR and AED certificate (.2023) 0.08mbI would like to use my career in pharmacy as a platform to advocate for healthcare equity in communities. As a former K-12 educator, I always took interest in making sure that my students understood the “why” and “how” in each lesson. I hope to bring that skillset into patient care. I want to ensure my patients understand that they are more than a tally toward metrics. I am learning so much about the profession of pharmacy. I am a huge proponent that the diversity of any organization should match, as best as possible, the diversity of the population being served. There are times where I very much want to work in a community pharmacy on the west side of Chicago to be an advocate for equity and health education. Sometimes, I think about the impact that I can make in the pharmaceutical industry. And then there are times when I want to work in a clinical setting to provide equitable health services to patients in underserved pockets of the city. Regardless of where my path leads, I know that I have so much in-moment-work to do now in order to further my perspective and gain experience in order to be knowledgeable and able to gain the trust of my patients and colleagues.

There are several factors that must be taken into account when determining whether a person is eligible for home infusion. Patients must have access to running water, electricity, and telephone service. Patients also have to safely store their medications. Compounded parenteral medications require refrigeration for the optimal beyond use date.
I completed an assignment of looking for social services that would assist a patient in getting essential home supplies such as a specifically refrigerators that a patient required for home care and home therapy. This project was important because it was done as a measure to help the patient safely store medications. I compiled a list of organizations and government programs. This list was not patient facing. It was provided to my preceptor with notes that he could use when he next spoke with the patient. I used color to prioritize the services. I included descriptions and information from various websites so that my preceptor would be able to answer any follow up questions that the patient may have had.
