I was raised in Wilson, North Carolina. I am one of two children. After graduating high school at the age of 17, I attended East Carolina University. During my third year as an undergraduate, I studied abroad for which I was able to spend one summer in Quebec, Canada for language immersion as well as one semester in northern France for which I received college credit for foreign language. Upon graduating, I took night classes in pharmacy to become a certified pharmacy technician. After passing the certified pharmacy technician exam, I worked in retail for 3 years before transitioning into a hospital setting. After nearly 4 years in the hospital setting, I knew that I wanted to become a pharmacist. I am currently working on my Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD).
Studied in Caen, the capital city of the region Basee-Normandie in France. By taking courses in France and applying the French language, I was able to receive college transfer courses that satisfied foreign language requirements for my undergraduate university at East Carolina University.

In this IPE event, students representing the different health care professions were teamed up. This included students in the DO program, PharmD program, Nursing, Clinical Research, Physical Therapy, PA program. Once we were teamed up, the different group members helped each other complete academic puzzles at different stations. This required us to practice working collaboratively with the other professional students outside of our discipline to solve unique problems. For this IPE, interprofessional communication was the focus of the event.
This IPE event was a conference-style event that focused on professionalism and leadership.
During the panel session with a focus on "A Place in Time: Exploring the Journey Toward Being a Healthcare Professional" the medical professional panel consisting of a nurse, PA, PharmD, each gave their experience and thoughts on when they first started working after school. They spoke about their fears, life lessons, and how to adapt.
On 10/12/2021 I participated in the IPE REPS FALL 2021 event. This event was based on a patient case scenario. In this case, the students from all divisions of healthcare including Pharmacy, DO, Nursing, PT, Social Worker, Public Health, Pharmaceutical Science worked together to understand the importance of each other's roles. This event highlighted the different health sciences programs of CPHS and CUSOM.
Along with a current PA student at Campbell University, I reviewed virtual patient's medical chart and helped PA student assess a treatment plan. Working with the PA student, we structured the flow of communication with the patient. For example, we introduced ourselves, then the PA student assessed the patient's current reason for being seen, followed by my interview to obtain the most current list of medications. After such, PA gave diagnosis and medication to treat. I counseled the patient on the medication the PA student decided to use for treatment therapy.
IPE event: 2/2/2021 (virtual)
During this event, the students who participated in this event downloaded the app "Among Us." We used this game to learn to communicate with others who may or may not be from other medical disciplines. This allowed us to see that the only want to efficiently suceed in the game was teamwork and communications. The teams were assembled during the activity and random challenges were presented throughtout the game resembling the challenges faced as healthcare workers.
Attended on 10/13/2020.
REPS stands for: Reflect, Engage, Practice, & Summarize
This event was designed to improve the understanding of different professions on the interprofessional collaborative healthcare team.
Event 08/21/2020
In this event, we learned about each others professions and used clues from each profession to complete puzzles which allowed us to figure out the master code to complete the Escape Room.
IPE: 2019
Participated in the first-ever Campbell University Escape Room for Interprofessional healthcare students. In this IPE, students from all the healthcare disciplines came together in small groups of mixed disciplines to solve a puzzle from clues that required someone from each discipline to assist with. Working together and recognizing that each discipline requires the help of other disciplines allowed the students to see how the healthcare field only works when all personnel are working for a common goal.
