Assignment 4: Career Goals Statement and Reflection
February 2, 2023

A.  Identify and record three career goals?
1.  Independent community
2.  Compounding pharmacy
3.  Community health care center

B.  Following your goals, respond to the following prompts in 2-3 sentences each

1.  Description: what past experiences have influenced your career goals
Based on what I have learned and experienced, my experience in the Pharmaceutics lab has influenced my career goal. Being in the pharmaceutics lab made me experience a new and different version of the job, which is very interesting and challenging. In the future, I would like to use the skills I learned in this experience to prepare a compounding medication that is not commercially available to patients to help them get well; Even though I have not had much experience yet, my experience through the program is getting very challenging and helpful in deciding my future career goal.

2.  Feelings: what are your feelings regarding your career goals (anxious, optimistic, etc.)?
Based on my experience so far, I would say that I am feeling anxious cause, as a compounding pharmacist, I should be conscientious when I am compounding a medication for my patient cause a tiny mistake could impact my patient’s life and could result in a severe side effect. Nevertheless, I am also excited to experience and work on this type of career goal because it allows me to help my patient differently.

3.  Evaluation: what is your evaluation (positive or negative) of your experiences and why do you feel this way?
I am confident about my experience, and this program will prepare me to become an experienced pharmacist who can also help my people and community. The experience I am getting in this program is very challenging and essential for me to become a good pharmacist in the future.

4.  Analysis: what did you learn from your experiences, how does it apply your current career goals? Have your career goals change after your participation in the MCPHS curriculum?
As I said earlier, I learned from my experience how to compound medications that are not commercially available for the patient to help them get well soon. Yes, my career goal has changed from working in a community pharmacy to a compounding pharmacy where I get a chance to compound many medications so I can help many people get well soon.

5.  Conclusion/action: what actions do you plan to take to achieve your career goals? Do you plan to pursue any post-graduation education or additional training?
I still need to make a plan and decide if I will apply for a post-graduation education. However, I am still considering applying to medicine safety post-graduation education, but I need to be more specific about it. I will get additional training in the compounding pharmacy so that I can get more experience in this field. I want to give myself extra time to get more experience in the pharmacy field.
