Write Reflection Here:: Retail pharmacy was my shot from the beginning of my pharmacy school career. I doubted my priorities once I did my labs. But once I started my community IPPE rotations, I fell in love with the whole idea of being a retail pharmacist. It was a totally eye-opening experience for me personally. Moreover, it also helped me with my character building. Giving immunizations and helping patients were very satisfying. I was also able to understand and apply the clinical aspects of medications and their mechanisms of action. Moreover, I was able to guide and counsel about the drugs that were being dispensed. I learned about how important good customer service is. Constant interaction with the patients and the customers helped me to improve my communication skills and problem solving skills. One other factor that impressed me was the teamwork that staff put up in order for customer satisfaction. Overall, it was an educating and inspiring experience. I totally consider working in a community setting in the future.

Write Reflection Here:: Being an international student myself, this was my first ever experience in an institutional setting in the US. Hence, everything was new and literally surprising to me. I believe that I have more clinical knowledge than I had a month ago. This opportunity really helped to develop my hospital practice experience and my ability to decipher and comprehend the clinical side of the drugs. I would like to apply the clinical skills I learned for my future endeavors.

Write Reflection Here:: Considering the fact that I now have a little more institutional pharmacy experience, I would definitely consider this as my career in the future. Even though I have more way to go, I am planning to improve my skills in the field through my APPEs too, so that I will be able to solicit my clinical experience and expertise to be a better pharmacist in the future, playing a key role in the well-being of the patients. It helped me to acquire more appreciation for the profession. I understood that experience is highly important to work efficiently in a high-volume setting. I was able to go for rounds with the medical team at the hospital which helped me to observe closely on how to make the best clinical decision on the increasing the patient's longevity. The medical team included attending physicians, residents, interns, nurses, nutritionists, and respiratory therapist. Moreover, it was an eye-opening experience.

What are EPAs? The entrustable professional activity (EPA) concept allows faculty to make competency-based decisions on the level of supervision required by trainees. Competency-based education targets standardized levels of proficiency to guarantee that all learners have a sufficient level of proficiency at the completion of training.

Trust is a central concept for safe and effective health care. Patients must trust their physicians, and health care providers must trust each other in a highly interdependent health care system. In teaching settings, supervisors decide when and for what tasks they entrust trainees to assume clinical responsibilities. Building on this concept, EPAs are units of professional practice, defined as tasks or responsibilities to be entrusted to the unsupervised execution by a trainee once he or she has attained sufficient specific competence. EPAs are independently executable, observable, and measurable in their process and outcome, and therefore, suitable for entrustment decisions. Sequencing EPAs of increasing difficulty, risk, or sophistication can serve as a backbone for graduate medical education.
