Fall 2024
1. Hospital and Acute Care Pharmacy Experience
Over the Fall 2024 semester (08/12/24 – 12/13/24) at Christus Trinity Mother Frances Rehabilitation Hospital and Paris Regional Hospital, I worked on understanding how pharmacists support patient care in hospital and acute care settings. I observed rounds, assisted with medication reconciliation, reviewed patient charts, and shadowed clinical pharmacists. These activities helped me recognize medication safety issues and see how complex cases are managed by the healthcare team.By the end of the semester, I felt more confident identifying potential medication problems and supporting safe practices, as reflected in preceptor feedback and my increased involvement in patient care tasks.
2. Community, Specialty, and Ambulatory Practice Exposure
During the Fall 2024 semester (09/23/24 – 12/13/24), I gained experience in different outpatient practice areas, including TylerRx Pharmacy, the UT Health East Texas – HOPE Cancer Center, and the Anticoagulation Clinic. I observed prescription processing, oncology medication preparation, and anticoagulation management, and participated in patient counseling. These experiences helped me understand how pharmacists tailor care across community, specialty, and ambulatory settings.By the end of the semester, I became more comfortable communicating with patients and pharmacy staff and developed a stronger appreciation for delivering patient-centered care across varied practice environments.
Spring 2025
1. Community Pharmacy Workflow and Documentation .
In the Spring 2025 semester (02/10/25 – 05/09/25) at Walmart, I focused on learning how prescriptions flow through a community pharmacy and how records are maintained accurately. I observed prescription processing, insurance billing procedures, and patient data documentation. These activities gave me insight into the importance of organized workflow and precise record-keeping.By the end of the semester, I was more confident navigating workflow tasks and appreciated the role of clear documentation in ensuring safe and efficient pharmacy operations.
2. Over-the-Counter Product Knowledge and Safety
Throughout the Spring 2025 semester (02/10/25 – 05/09/25) at Walmart, I aimed to improve my understanding of over-the-counter (OTC) medications and how to recommend them safely. I researched common OTC products, observed counseling interactions between pharmacists and patients, and discussed product selection with my preceptor.By the conclusion of the rotation, I was able to make appropriate OTC recommendations and explain product options confidently under preceptor guidance.
Fall 2025
1. Medication Review and Safety Skills
At Rusk State Hospital during Fall 2025 (09/15/25 – 12/05/25), I focused on enhancing my ability to conduct medication reviews and contribute to patient safety initiatives. I analyzed chart data, checked for drug interactions, and assisted with documentation of clinical observations. These tasks increased my awareness of potential medication risks and how to address them.By the end of the semester, I was more adept at identifying medication-related concerns and supporting safe pharmacotherapy decisions, as observed by my preceptor.
2. Clinical Workflow and Documentation
During the Fall 2025 semester (09/15/25 – 12/05/25) at Rusk State Hospital, I worked on strengthening my understanding of institutional pharmacy workflow and completing accurate clinical documentation. I participated in order verification, follow-up documentation, and compliance checks. These responsibilities helped me see how structured work processes support patient care.By the completion of the rotation, I demonstrated improved accuracy in documentation and greater confidence in handling clinical tasks.
Spring 2026
1. Patient Counseling and Education
For my Spring 2026 75-hour IPPE rotation at Strong-Hurt Pharmacy (02/11/26 – 05/01/26), I plan to work on enhancing my patient counseling skills by providing guidance on prescription and over-the-counter medications at least once per week under the supervision of my preceptor. Progress will be assessed through ongoing preceptor feedback and self-reflection on counseling interactions.
2. Community Pharmacy Problem Solving
As part of my 75-hour IPPE rotation at Strong-Hurt Pharmacy (02/11/26 – 05/01/26), I aim to strengthen my community pharmacy problem-solving abilities by identifying and addressing at least one medication-related concern ,such as dosing clarification, drug interaction assessment, or adherence support — each week with preceptor guidance. Progress will be evaluated through weekly discussions with my preceptor and completion of these problem-solving activities.
