My results from the Gaining Power and Influence assessment show a total score of 134, which indicates a relatively strong ability to build and use power and influence in professional settings. My highest scores were in expertise (11), criticality (11), and relevance (11), suggesting that my knowledge, contributions, and alignment with important organizational goals are key sources of influence. Expertise is especially important because people tend to trust and follow individuals who demonstrate strong knowledge and competence in their field.  also scored well in effort (10), flexibility (10), and centrality (9), which means I tend to work hard, adapt to situations, and stay connected to important activities within a team or organization. My using influence score (20) indicates that I actively try to persuade or motivate others, while my resisting influence (13) and increasing authority (13) scores show that I can maintain independence and continue developing leadership skills. Overall, these results suggest that my influence comes mainly from competence, effort, and the value of my contributions rather than relying solely on formal authority.

My results from the Using Influence Strategies assessment show that my scores are Retribution = 16, Reciprocity = 15, and Reason = 16. This indicates that I use a balanced combination of influence strategies, with slightly higher reliance on reason and retribution compared to reciprocity. In this framework, retribution refers to using pressure or consequences, reciprocity involves exchanging favors or mutual benefits, and reason focuses on logical explanations and evidence to persuade others. (Kresl Consulting) Overall, the results suggest that while I sometimes use authority or consequences when necessary, I also frequently rely on logical arguments and cooperation to influence others, which can help maintain effectiveness while still preserving professional relationships.

My results from the Cognitive Style Instrument show that I have a balanced approach to gathering information, with an Intuitive score of 6 and a Sensing score of 6, which are very close to the average scores. This suggests that I use both intuition and attention to concrete details when understanding information. However, in the evaluating information section, my Thinking score is 9 and my Feeling score is 2, indicating that I strongly rely on logical analysis rather than emotions when making decisions. This means I tend to evaluate situations using evidence, reasoning, and objective judgment. Overall, these results suggest that my cognitive style combines balanced information gathering with a strong preference for analytical decision-making. The assessment explores how people gather and evaluate information and emphasizes that there are no right or wrong styles—only different ways of thinking. (kellogg.northwestern.edu)

My results in the Effective Empowerment and Delegation assessment show a total score of 133, which suggests a strong tendency toward empowering leadership. My highest scores were in personal mastery experiences (12), organizing teams (12), creating confidence (12), and delegating work (53), indicating that I am comfortable trusting others with responsibilities and helping them develop their skills. I also scored well in modeling (10) and providing resources (10), which suggests that I try to guide others by example and ensure they have what they need to succeed. Slightly lower scores in providing support (7) and providing information (8) indicate areas where I can improve by offering more feedback and clearer communication. Overall, these results suggest that I value teamwork, trust, and helping others grow through effective delegation and encouragement.

Co-Curricular Activities-Leadership Milestone
Completing the Leadership and followership course gave me a broader perspective on what it takes to be effective in both roles. I learned that good leaders aren’t just charismatic visionaries; they are inclusive communicators who speak authentically and cultivate trust. Adaptive leadership requires recognizing when to “give the work back to the people,” empowering teams to devise solutions rather than dictating every step. I also realised how follower types—from “survivors” and “alienated” individuals to “effective followers”—shape group dynamics, and how leaders must adjust their level of support and challenge accordingly. Exploring politically astute leadership showed the importance of reading people and situations, building alignment, and staying aware and in control. As organisations face rapid change, hybrid working, and disruptive technologies, leadership must evolve toward authenticity, collaboration, and continuous learning. This course reminded me that effective leadership and followership are mutually reinforcing, and that cultivating both sets of skills will help me build stronger, more resilient teams in the future. 260305052404_LF_2_statement.pdf (.pdf) 0.62mb

Participating in the Boiron homeopathic case activity was a very useful learning experience because it helped me understand how to select appropriate remedies based on a patient’s specific symptoms rather than just the diagnosis. I especially appreciated learning how to navigate the Boiron Medicine Finder and compare different options to choose the most suitable medication and dosing. This activity also improved my confidence in counseling patients who are interested in complementary therapies and reminded me of the importance of individualized care. Overall, the exercise helped me connect symptom analysis with practical decision-making and will be helpful during my IPPE experiences when patients ask about over-the-counter and alternative treatment options. 260219050714_boiron.png (.png) 0.60mb

Co-Curricular Activities Professionalism Milestone: Pharmacy/Pharmacist Advocacy

Watching the California Board of Pharmacy Legislation and Regulation Committee meeting helped me better understand how pharmacy practice is shaped by laws, regulations, and professional advocacy. Before viewing this session, I primarily associated pharmacy with clinical knowledge and patient care. However, this meeting highlighted how regulatory decisions directly influence pharmacists’ responsibilities, workflow, and patient access to medications.

One meaningful takeaway was observing how board members discussed legislation related to pharmacist scope of practice and patient safety. The careful consideration of stakeholder perspectives, feasibility, and public health impact demonstrated that regulatory decision-making is complex and requires balancing patient needs with practical implementation. The transparency of the meeting also reinforced the importance of professional accountability and public trust within pharmacy regulation.

This experience strongly connected to my IPPE community pharmacy experiences. During my rotation, I observed how regulations affect daily tasks such as controlled substance handling, documentation requirements, and patient counseling responsibilities. Watching the committee meeting helped me understand that many of these workflow expectations originate from regulatory discussions like this one. It also increased my awareness of the pharmacist’s role as an advocate who must remain informed about policy changes to ensure safe and compliant practice.

Overall, this session encouraged me to stay engaged with pharmacy legislation and view leadership not only as clinical expertise but also as involvement in policy and advocacy. As I continue my PharmD training and IPPE experiences, I hope to become more confident in understanding regulatory updates and contributing to discussions that promote patient safety and expand the pharmacist’s role.

Co-Curriculum activity: Career Development step into leadership
In this guest lecture hosted by the PDC of West Coast University, I learned about the diverse leadership roles pharmacists can take beyond direct patient care. Dr. Paul Huynh shared real-world experiences from community pharmacy, regional administration, and advocacy, highlighting how pharmacists can influence healthcare systems, support their teams, and advocate for both patients and the profession. 260205021341_Screenshot_2026_01_30_132248.png (.png) 0.30mb

Co-Curricular activity, Self Awareness Cervical Cancer Awareness
I learned that cervical cancer is largely preventable through regular screening and HPV vaccination. Most cases are caused by high-risk HPV infections, which can be detected early with Pap smears and HPV testing, making early prevention and awareness essential for protecting women’s health. 260205020649_CC_Attendance_Ticket.pdf (.pdf) 0.12mb

9th Annual Legislative Day
Attending the 9th Annual Legislative Day helped me understand how advocacy and legislation directly impact patient care and the future of pharmacy. The discussion on policy topics such as reimbursement for pharmacists’ services, drug shortages, and patient safety emphasized the importance of our collective voice. I found the insights on the Equitable Community Access to Pharmacist Services Act especially valuable, as it showed how legislation can expand access to care. This experience motivated me to become more involved in professional organizations and advocacy efforts to help advance both patient outcomes and the pharmacy profession. 251023120754_IMG_9764.jpeg (.jpeg) 0.22mb
