My Bio: Giovanni Troia
My Biography

My name is Giovanni Troia, I am an 18 year old from Glen Cove, New York. I have 3 siblings, 2 younger brothers and an older sister. I like to workout everyday and in my free time I am either doing school work or working trying to make money. What led me to choose a career in pharmacy is the fact that I have a spine condition known as scoliosis. Being that I have that, whenever I am in pain I speak to my pharmacist and they prescribe a medicine that will help me. Whenever I would take this medicine I would feel a lot better which shows me how much a pharmacist makes an impact on my condition. This is what truly inspires me to become a pharmacist, to go out there and provide medicine to people who are also not feeling well. My vision for pharmacy practice is to learn how to properly distribute medications to patients and    them how to properly take the medication. My goal is to finish the 6 years of Pharmacy school and to receive my PharmD doctorate. I will achieve this goal by putting in all the time and effort it takes to study and work to get good grades. Being a pharmacist is so important to me because pharmacists have had such an impact on my life and made my life better so I want to also have an impact on people's lives. My positive attributes are that I am determined, I'm a hard worker and I am good at communicating with people.

Goals (Personal & Professional): Giovanni Troia
My Goals
My goals for the first 1-5 years is to work at a pharmacy to start to gain a little practice and knowledge to know what it's like to work in a pharmaceutical work space. My goal is also to work hard and get good grades in school. My goals for the next 5-10 years is to graduate out of the St.Johns pharmacy program and get my white coat. In the next 5-10 years I want to already be working in a hospital or pharmacy. Then in 15 years I hope to have opened up my first or more pharmacies. I hope that all the hard work that I put into pharmacy over these next years pays off.

I have also within the past 2 years started up 2 companies with a good friend of mine and while one of them failed the other one has blown up and earned us a lot of money. The business is called Victory Sealcoating and I started that up in June of 2022. I fix up driveways by filling cracks in them and then putting a layer of blacktop over the driveway to make it look brand new while costing a fraction of the price it would cost to completely replace the driveway. We also offer power washing, snowplowing, and gutter cleaning. This company is based out of Old Brookville, Long Island. The employer is Giovanni Troia.

Other accomplishments
One accomplishment that I am very proud of myself for is starting up a successful business with one of my best friends. Even though it is still a small business right now Im happy with the fact that out of all the businesses I've tried staring in the past that haven't worked out that this one finally worked out. I am proud of myself and my partner that in the first couple weeks of starting up this business we would go handing out business cards everyday and now we don't have to anymore because people call us. You can find my business on instagram at Victory Sealcoating with the big yellow V as the profile picture.

What does being a pharmacist mean?
- Being a pharmacist means that you are always there to counsel someone on how to use medications and not only that but to be there to support someone if they are going through a hard time and their health is being risked. Being a pharmacist means you like communicating with people. I chose pharmacy because I like to help people who are sick and I want to make an impact on not only the pharmaceutical industry but the world. I chose St. John's University because the campus is close to home, It is a Roman Catholic school, my father went there and the fact that they gave me a lot of scholarship money. I would say my top 5 strengths are Communication, Working hard, being futuristic, being innovative and being positive. What surprised me the most about my strengths is that I am a good communicator. This is because when I was a kid I was never really good at communicating and I was very quiet. I plan on utilizing my strengths by communicating good with my patients and co-workers, staying extra hours at school, or work if I have to and being a very positive person to my patients.
