My Bio

I am a mother of three boys who have always been my inspiration for wanting the best out of life. I have always wanted to work in the healthcare field and started off with being a CNA and studying for nursing. I soon realized that the nursing environment was not suited for me, it did not stop me from wanting to be in the field. I began working in physicians offices and agencies that assisted people with their health care needs, insurance or additional assitance they needed. After doing that for several years I finally found medical office postions were best for me. I want to continue my career in Medical Billing and Coding and become an invaluable asset to any employer I am working for in that field.

Evaluate current issues in medical services settings and create plans to resolve issues and improve outcomes.
This program helped me to reach the outcome because I took the skills learned to create a plan to open a new outpatient primary care that will focus on promoting healthy lifestyles and behaviors and identifying risk factors. This project challenged me to look at and analyze the current disparities in healthcare and develop a plan that would address those issues in helping to provide better health outcomes for patients regardless of their socioeconomic status. Identifying that patient-centered is the future of healthcare and incorporating that in all healthcare practices. Health Services Management II Project (.Final) 0.04mb

Apply project management skills to planning, coordination, and implementation of medical services to improve operational efficacy.
This program helped me to reach this outcome because it requires me to analyze and research what would be required to plan, coordinate, and open a primary care office that would be efficient for both patients and staff. Taking the knowledge gained of how to plan a project and the appropriate resources required allows me to implement those skills in my future career to display effective and quality management. Being able to plan and implement ideas is critical to a company’s continued success and growth. Health Services Management II Project (.Final) 0.04mb

Collaborate with others to provide professional medical services without bias in a diverse work environment.
This course helped me to reach this outcome because it allowed me to see where my strengths and weaknesses were. I was provided a better idea of my behaviors and rationale for my reactions. The KSAs learned will allow me to respond and collaborate with others using better professional skills and manners and not allowing personal feelings to affect these interactions. Understanding that collaboration is not solely based on the innovative ideas you may present because others will hold their own opinions and ideas, it’s coming together effectively making decisions that will ultimately benefit the company for continued growth. Recognize the impact of multi-facets of healthcare economics, policy regulation, risk management, ethics, and legal responsibilities on the medical services continuum.
This course helped me to reach the outcome because I had to demonstrate the ability to be able to propose a plan to open a primary care office that focused on providing quality, ethical, and safe patient care. I also had to demonstrate the knowledge of the importance of having policies, and regulations and being compliant with healthcare standards. These skills will be key in the healthcare field as ethical behavior plays an important role in patient care and employee retention. It will allow me to excel in my career with the use of the KSAs as compliance and ethics are a continuous part of healthcare. Health Services Management II Project (.Final) 0.04mb

The KSAs learned will allow me to communicate more effectively, and build empathy and respect for others and multicultural awareness allows me to be more aware and cognizant of the way I act. These skills are important in healthcare management because there will be continuous interactions with people from many different socioeconomic backgrounds.  Increasing Multicultural Awareness (.pptx) 2.27mb

Quantitative and Scientific Reasoning
This program allowed me to reach this outcome because it required me to take a set of data that was related to future available careers based on my degree. The use of analyzation skills and mathematical reasoning learned throughout the course, helped me to make a decision based on facts using numerical data on which careers in healthcare management will be most beneficial based on the current and future needs of employees in that field. The KSA’s learned allow me to make future decisions based on statistical data, predictability, and analysis. Statistics Portfolio Project (.edited) 0.12mb

Relational Learning
This course and assessment helped me to reach this institutional outcome because it required the use of critical thinking through the use of formal and informal fallacies in making a valid argument. The skills learned in this course allow me to relay information related to new challenges and experiences that will occur to communicate more effectively to be heard and listened to by others and form conclusions that will be valid based on facts and proven behaviors to continuously provide leadership based on the growth in the healthcare industry. Information Literacy and Communication
This course and assessment helped me to reach this institutional outcome because it required me to utilize current technology through the means of the internet and scholarly sources to prepare a research paper based on facts to inform and persuade and inform others on a controversial topic.  The goal of displaying the document was achieved through the use of written communication to communicate those findings. Going forward this will help me to continue to demonstrate the KSA’s of excellent communication to effectively perform my job in communicating with my team to remain aligned with future and growing trends in healthcare.
