I had care plans for each client and met each individual's needs. I had clients who were elderly or physically disabled, with psychological disorders, etc.
this assignment I had to identify My major group affiliations which are white individuals/Hispanic and Women and straight individuals as well. I had to explain that I am honestly around more minority groups than major groups; how a white family raised me, and I am a female, and most of the people in my life are straight. I am a straight female, so I affiliate with straight individuals, but I am also an LGBTQ supporter and equality. I am a Christian woman who believes everyone should be treated equally. I reflected on my life and had to find the groups where I belong and had to go over my family culture, different cultures in my community, and how we all fit in society. I grew up around Christian individuals, not my family, but I always went to church. I grew up around republicans my whole life as well and have always been around republicans. I had to show even what group I am in if I am culturally competent. I learned about different groups and their dynamics and organizations. When it comes to political parties considered an in-group, being female is an in-group. Being straight is part of an in-group. My cultural competence awareness skills improved, which is a very important KBS to have in the workplace so that you treat people the way you should in the workplace and go by the ethical standards, to be culturally aware and competent of other cultures. of your employer and any place of employment wants you to be self-aware very important skill to have. I was able to pinpoint any bias I may have which I get along with everyone
In this assessment, I gained and improved my interviewing skills, active listening skills, and communication skills, learned about ethical standards in my field, and attitude when in the field of human services. I learned what an employer expects of me during an interview and what I would do in certain situations if I were the one interviewing. I gained the skills to have a successful interview and how to conduct one ethically. I gained the skills from this project to be successful in my career. I went by the standards of human service professionals, and their values such as being unbiased, self-aware, culturally competent, empathetic patient, a drive to help others. In human services it's essential to have these KBS listed to be going by their ethical standards, to better serve the public, and to be successful in this field. These skills helped to to gain employment and will help me to be successful in the workplace as I may conduct interviews one day. its imperative in any workplace to be self-aware, unbiased, etc or you will not be successful in your career as all employees value all the KBS i listed.
In this assignment I met the outcome by finding out the human service policies in my state and the legal considerations I need to have in the field of human services such as the importance of confidentiality, and HIPPA, to treat everyone equally. What agencies in my community offer and their ethical standards, what it takes to fund a nonprofit, and what to consider legally when it comes to having your organization or nonprofit. I learned how to use the knowledge I gained to increase my skills such as critical thinking, finding legit resources, and networking skills, calling different agencies to get information from them helped a lot, and helped me get the job I wanted. Networking is essential to excel and make good relationships in the human and social service field, helping to better serve clients, the community, most organizations have ethical standards etc that we all need to comply with.etc.
I completed this outcome from this assignment because I created a plan to create an organization for teens addicted to illegal substances specifically opioids. I did my research and was to go over my plan with the instructor. I went into detail step by step. Knowing how to Assess needs, design a plan of action, improve on my problem-solving skills, research skills, develop an action plan, and set objectives, I was also able to use my skills to identify the action required to achieve the objective which was to create a program with a higher success rate for teens with addiction, mental health issues, public health which are all important KBS to have in the workplace especially in human services as it is central to helping people understand their situation and needs and is the main means of access to social care, facilitating the provision of support to adults whose needs are complex.
240413124621_Final_portfolio_submission_social_program_development_class.docx (.docx) 0.03mbIn this project, I completed the outcome listed above because I had to prepare for any disaster that may happen in the workplace or outside of it such as an epidemic, a fire inside, a natural disaster, or external, internal disasters. I had to find the right plan to be prepared for any disaster and what I would do being in charge. I increased my leadership skills, problem-solving skills, communication skills, critical thinking skills and so much more. I learned all about the proper procedures to go by in a disaster how to plan step by step and what to do before, during, and after. The challenges you face during disasters that may occur inside or outside of the workplace that affect the workplace.
KBS gained - I gained an understanding of human behavior which is necessary in human and social services/workplace is necessary if you are providing appropriate social services to diverse populations without bias, particularly when working with people that do not share your own cultural beliefs. It's important to know the challenges and how to use problem-solving skills to get through the challenges. Planning skills are very important in case of an emergency or something that doesn't go as planned and have backup plans. Being prepared is essential in my field to be successful and to protect clients, communities, etc.
roup. My cultural competence
awareness skills improved,I was able to pinpoint any bias I may have which
I get along with everyone.
Completed this outcome because I learned a lot about my own bias and how to reflect on ourselves and be aware of any bias. to see and respect all points of view, religion, politics, different races and ethnicities, gender, and sexual orientation. In the workplace, it is imperative to be culturally competent and self-aware, especially in human service delivery to be empathetic, and respectful, Understanding other cultures, and races is the law in my field and is ethical and the way to better serve the community.
I gained KBS such as i now value diversity even more, I know how to conduct self-assessment,problem solving skills all of these KBS are critical in order to be professional in the workplace and you wont be able to serve clients the way you should and the way they deserve.
Learning how to network and knowing the behaviors you must possess in the workplace such as excellent communication and active listening skills, I had to talk to people in my field and got some excellent advice and it helped with my career growth. I learned through discussion with my peers as well as we all discussed what vulnerable population we chose and what kind of program we were creating. I had to go out in the community, and I participated in social learning. I learned a lot about opioid addiction and how it affected society as a whole, individuals, communities, etc. It is necessary to know this information and have empathy for those in addiction in my field as that's something I come in contact with in the human and social services field. Empathy is huge, respect, knowing this addiction, etc to positively impact my employer, and clients.
In my presentation, I had to figure out how much I would pay for loans if I started paying sooner and what I would pay if I started paying my loans back after I graduated. I had to choose what plan I would like based on my results and figure out what would be the best route for me based on the numbers, interest percentage, etc. I had to follow certain methods to get the right amount and form my conclusion and my ultimate decision. I gained critical thinking skills, analytical thinking skills, time management skills, etc.I was able to read and identify mathematical information, interrupt and analyze mathematical information, gained skills to evaluate the validity of the results. I was able to make a decision based on the data

KBS gained common sense, problem-solving, empathy, writing, interpersonal communication, and time management. which are all essential to be successful and to better serve clients in my field of human and social services. Ultimately, Reflective practice enables us to achieve a better awareness of ourselves, our knowledge and understanding, our skills and competencies, and workplace practices in general.
I met this outcome because, this reflection helped me reflect on my informal career plan and how it helped me to plan my career, enabled me to identify all of my strengths, skills, and interests that have helped me determine the best career path that would best suite me and a great future. I reflected on my project and discussed what I did well at the skills I gained, and what I needed to do to be able to improve the skills I have and gain more skills as well as what areas I needed to work on, and I made goals for myself. As you see I was able to reflect on all of this and employ the strategies in my reflection on My informal career plan reflection.
What I have learned formally and informally when it comes to the project I completed and was reflecting on it in this assignment. What I have learned is informal learning with searching for, applying for, and interviewing for a job. I have learned how to properly step by step, how to put a resume and cover letter together, but no one has shown me how to do it professionally, I have learned how to properly interview and research, and apply for a job.
I realized after my project and reflecting on what I learned now how important it is to study for the job I am applying for. Informally I learned a lot through discussions and replies from my peers and instructor and formally through lectures, quizzes, step-by-step directions, the portfolio project I am reflecting on.
