In this course I learned about the revenue cycle, CDI audits and edits, claims, claims submission and denials, querying physicians, prospective and retrospective coding, sequencing and the importance of it. I learned what a CDI specialist does and the role they play in the revenue cycle.

Anatomy and Physiology/Medical coding and billing
In this course I learned a lot about the human anatomy and different types of diseases, conditions, viruses, sickness, illness, infections and how they are treated by a medical professional, what they use to treat them if applicable, how to handle certain conditions and the medication or service associated with any condition.

ICD-10-CM/Medical coding and billing
In this course I learned how to use the alphabetic index to look up the main term, and verify that term in the tabular list, I also learned about the symbols and indicators associated with the codes. I read my guidelines and learned to utilize them as much as possible. I also learned about definitive diagnosis and Etiology/manifestation. Medical terminology, anatomy and personal/family history.

CPT/HCPCS Level 1- Medical coding and billing
In this course I learned more about medical terminology, CPT and HCPCS level I modifiers, POA (Present on admission) indicators, LCD and NCD, NCCI, Unlikely edits, MDM and E/M codes. I also learned about charge master, CDI and audits and claim denials.

ICD-10-PCS/Medical coding and billing
In this course I learned about surgery, obstetrics, mental health, radiology, pathology and much more. I also learned and studied the many different body systems, root operations, body part, approach, device and qualifier. This course helped me learn more about the body, where things are located, and that Procedural Coding is associated with inpatient hospital care.

Advanced ICD-10-CM diagnostic/Medical coding and billing
In this course I learned more about diagnostic coding, making sure to utilize the appropriate guidelines associated with the appropriate codes. I also dug deeper into the table of chemicals and neoplasms in order to get a better look at how diagnostic coding covers an array of different variables and codes. I was able to learn medical terminology and how there are many different stages to certain disorders like CKD stages. I was able to familiarize myself with external cause codes and MCC and CC related conditions.

Advanced CPT/HCPCS II- Medical coding and billing
In this course I was able to learn more about the rules and regulations about HIPAA enforcement. Guidelines associated with CPT and HCPCS II coding. I learned about applying modifiers when applicable, how to code using an encoder and APA coding clinic codes. I also learned how to read through patient documents and assign the appropriate code in the correct sequence according to what the document is addressing, if not needing to query a physician.

Evaluation and Management/Medical coding and billing
This class was taken in order to obtain proper Medical Decision Making in an outpatient/inpatient setting, it also gave me skills of how to code E/M codes based on time and place of service. I was able to learn and understand the different types of time of service and place of service that MDM can be determined.

Employee of the month-2021
I was presented with employee of the month at my last job in August 2021. I worked for Sodexo at a hospital in the cafeteria as a food runner for the first 3 months and supervisor for the last 3 months, the position was temporary and after that I went onto getting my Associates degree in Medical coding and billing.

I always strive to succeed!
I am a future 2 year graduate at Bryant and Stratton college in December 2024 for my Associate Degree in Medical Billing and Coding with maintaining a 4.0 GPA throughout all my courses. I am always willing to learn and strive for excellence. When I set my mind on something, I do not give up- I work hard towards everything I accomplish in life. I am optimistic, I have perseverance, I am a kind and sociable woman. If you ask my family and friends; they would say that Sara is a very bubbly person and fun to be around. I stay positive, I keep my head held high and I know I can do anything I set my mind too.
