My Bio: Enzo Lam
Pharmacy Practice Vision
Having immigrant parents who both finished their studies at St. John’s University College of Pharmacy has greatly influenced who I am today. I saw how hard they worked to adapt to a new country and build their careers in healthcare, and that really stayed with me. Their journey inspired me to follow a similar path while becoming my own kind of pharmacist. I’m interested in pharmacy because I want to help people and make a positive impact on their daily lives. I’ve always enjoyed learning, and pharmacy allows me to keep growing while helping others with what I know. I see myself in a role where patient care is the top priority and where I can be someone people trust and depend on. My goal is to become a pharmacist who makes a real difference, and I plan to achieve this by working hard, gaining experience, and continuing to learn. Being a pharmacist is important to me because it allows me to help others and be someone they can rely on. I am a hard worker with a strong sense of responsibility and determination, and I am committed to improving and succeeding in this field.

Other Accomplishments: Enzo Lam
Licensed Pharmacy technician (New Jersey)
Becoming a Licensed Pharmacy Technician is a major achievement that requires a deep understanding of medical safety and healthcare laws. The process was challenging, as it involved mastering complex dosage calculations, drug classifications, and strict regulatory standards to ensure patient safety. I obtained my license when I first started working in New Jersey, where I worked from March to August and completed over 300 hours of hands-on experience in a real pharmacy setting. This experience strengthened my ability to handle high-pressure responsibilities with accuracy and integrity. Earning this license serves as the foundation of my professional career, allowing me to support pharmacists and provide reliable care to the community.
Other Accomplishments: Enzo Lam
Second Degree Black belt in Taekwondo

Earning my Second Degree Black Belt is one of my greatest achievements, representing a level of discipline that far exceeds the initial black belt. The transition is notoriously difficult because it requires moving beyond basic mastery into advanced technical depth, complex sparring strategies, and heightened mental fortitude. It took an additional three years of rigorous training to overcome the physical and mental "plateaus" where many others stop. Beyond the technical skill, this rank is a testament to my leadership and perseverance, as it involved mentoring junior students and maintaining peak performance under extreme pressure.

My Top five strengths and reflection: Includer, Belief, Learner, Futuristic, and Individualization

My strengths are rooted in my diverse background and professional experiences. Growing up in a family with multiple cultural backgrounds shaped me as an Includer who values every voice. This is paired with my Individualization and Belief themes, which drive me to treat everyone as a unique person and build relationships based on trust. As a natural Learner, I am constantly driven to always learn more and master new challenges. Finally, my Futuristic outlook allows me to see into the future, turning my current hard work into a clear vision for my career in healthcare.

Pharmacy: A First-Year Reflection
1. Describe, in your own words, what a pharmacist is.
A pharmacist is a part of the community that people can trust and rely on. They should be members of the community that others look forward to seeing for medical advice and medication pickups. Most of all, they are part of a medical team that wants what’s best for their patients and shows compassion to all customers.

2. Why did you personally choose Pharmacy as your major?
chose pharmacy as my major because both of my parents are pharmacists, and I want to follow in their footsteps by helping the community. I also recognize that through the hard work required to become a pharmacist, I can pursue a career that will provide financial stability for my future. Additionally, the field offers me the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives every day.

3. Why did you choose to study pharmacy here at St. John’s University?
Both of my parents graduated from St. John’s pharmacy program, and in my quest to follow in their footsteps, attending St. John’s is a big step. In addition, St. John’s has provided me with generous scholarships, which have helped ease the financial burden on my family. Lastly, the university’s location is not too far from home, allowing me to visit my family every few weeks.
