PharmD candidate class of 2029
- Become confident in identifying drug therapeutic classes and indications upon seeing a medication name, so when patients come to the pharmacy, I will be able to counsel 5 patients appropriately based off the medication knowledge I acquired without having to rely on the drug information sheet from start to finish.
- Assist in filling at least 3 or more prescriptions a day from start to finish with no errors.
My name is Shelby Evans and I am a P1 Distance Pathway student at the University of Findlay College of Pharmacy in Findlay, Ohio with an anticipated graduation date of May 2029. My college education background consists of two associate's degrees- associate's degree in biology as well as an associate's degree in pre-pharmaceutical studies. With dreams of going into the field of nursing ever since I was a child, my college journey began with a nursing mindset until the Covid-19 Pandemic in 2020. The pandemic shifted my mindset about healthcare. I no longer wanted to only be at the bedside of patients. I wanted to pursue them and be a credible resource for all patients and families I come in contact with now and in the future.
For approximately nearly 3 years, I have been employed at Fast Pace Health Urgent Care as a Medical Assistant, where I have been able to have hands on learning with common in-clinic medications and how they relate to patients and their conditions. As a P1 student in Pharmacy School, my current career objective is to get back into the hospital and shift gears to department of Pharmacy. I hope to obtain a pediatric residency in the hospital and further grow my knowledge in pediatrics, so that I can be confident on how pharmaceuticals affect the pediatric population.
