About Me.
I am a single mother, working full time for the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision. I am a corrections officer at Wende Correctional Facility. I have been a CO for 19 years. I wanted to join the NYPD but didn't have money to live while going to the academy. I have 6 years left in the department, in which time I will retire to be at home with my son more. I work 12-hour days, including weekends and some holidays. It will be nice to work somewhere else that is 8-hour shifts and no weekends or holidays. This career has helped me to buy a house pay my student loans off and take my son on trips every year. This job gives me stability.
