Prompt 1: My experience in School Counseling for both Elementary and Secondary grades contributed to my understanding of the diverse developmental needs of K-12 students, including those with exceptionalities. By serving as a school counselor in two different school settings, I learned that age doesn't always equate to maturity. I have had to make adjustments to lessons for students in Middle school to reflect what I would teach an elementary student and vice versa. When working with students, I have had to learn to adapt my lessons as I gauge the students' interest and engagement, sometimes right on the spot. It reminded me of my teaching years. 
Prompt 2: Most of the time, the spiritual values of the students were aligned with Christianity, which is a faith that I also align with. Even though this made it easier for me to connect the students' faith to their learning and behavior, I have not faced a faith value that is different than mine yet. I am still waiting for more experience working with students of different beliefs. However, my experience with students of the same belief has definitely taught me the importance of including spirituality in lessons.
Prompt 3: As a teacher, I often worked alongside the parents to provide the best education for their kid. As a school counselor, I have learned the importance of leaning on all your team members to support you and the student you are working with. Learning how to listen to other teachers' perspectives on a student I am working with. I have found that the students I work with will often tell me about the people who support them, and encourage them to find their community in their friends, family, and neighbors. However, some of their biggest supporters are their favorite teachers. Those teachers are the ones that I learned I could go to, and they knew just what their students needed. 
Prompt 4: The switch from Elementary to Secondary definetly grew my professional identity as a school counselor. I learned how to be more independent from my supervisor. I had to step up to the plate and advocate for my services a lot more in the secondary setting than in elementary. I had to do most of the work on my own, collaborating and meeting with teachers to get parental permission and consulting them regarding their students' needs. I feel like my Elementary experience got my feet wet and helped me establish my counseling art, while my Secondary experience grew my professional knowledge and equipped me for my next step as an independent school counselor. 

My name, Linnea (pronounced la-nay-ya), was gifted to me when I was six years old after I was adopted into my beautiful family. My mom and dad had two kids of their own and then adopted not only me but also 9 other siblings. Because of this, I grew up in a large household with many diverse siblings and many diverse needs. My mom was an advocate for homeschooling, especially her special needs kids. I was homeschooled until college. It is because of my experience in my childhood that I have become an advocate for education and dream of advocating for children who are just like me to have a fair chance in public schools. I got my bachelor's in Educational Studies with a minor in Disability Studies and Special Education back in 2021, and began my work as a volunteer teacher for a homeschooling cooperative for three years. As a teacher, I learned how to work with a small group of students in a classroom setting and how to work with students with special needs. I continued to grow my education through self-learning in books while also working a part-time job in a restaurant. After taking a year break from school, I decided in 2023 to pursue my master's in School Counseling. Since then, I have been working through my program and plan to graduate in May of this year, 2026. 

This Organization provides Education through Homeschooling Cooperatives for special need kids and homeschooling families in the states and Trade Education to at risk teen moms in Uganda. I have worked as a volunteer teacher for them for three years in the states and have also worked as a fundraiser helper and planner for 14 years. 

Attending November 19-21, 2025. This event will have workshops and speakers that contain subjects pertaining to counseling and school counseling.  Providing further education and updated resources I can use in my field as a School Counselor 

This Essay covers my professional growth. My strengths and my weaknesses have changed slightly since I first wrote this paper, but the information is still pretty accurate. 

Some of the changes I have noticed are in my Professionalism. Moving from Elementary to Secondary has meant doing a lot more independent work, which has strengthened my professionalism. I have had to produce my own Needs assessment, gather my own data, and obtain permission slips and referrals from parents and teachers. I had to advocate for my groups and collect data to prove their worth.

I have also gained more knowledge in Trauma-informed care, working with CBT, SBFT, and project-based learning through reading and practice. Also, working with MTSS and ASCA standards and expectations has made gathering data easier. The secondary setting also set me up for recognizing suicide ideation and exposed me to suicide prevention, ensuring I feel better prepared when it is finally time for me to step into the official role of School Counselor.

This paper explains the effects of trauma on children and how resilience can be built by students finding meaning in something special, including, but not limited to spirituality. This paper aligns with AIA standard Research and Evaluation since it researches trauma and resilience in Children and evaluates how we can build resilience in the students we work with.  

This paper goes into great detail about a cultural group of my selection, which was Ugandan culture. I studied attitudes and beliefs, spirituality and religion, key historical events and figures, and the historical and current oppression faced in the country. I also studied treatment approaches and shared my experiences attending events that informed me more about Ugandan Culture. This paper aligns with the AIA standard Diversity and Advocacy since it gave me plenty of information to work and advocate for Ugandan students in my schools in the future. 

This is my complete presentation on the culminating project I did in Internship 2 with a 6-week Small-Group session. This assignment aligns with AIA standards: Collaboration and Consultation, Leadership, and Counseling Prevention, and Intervention.
For Collaboration and Consultation, I had to collaborate with teachers and parents to get permission slips, signs, and recommendations of students who should join.
For Leadership, I was the one who conducted the needs assessment, pulled recommendations of students from teachers, got permission slips signed, and created the lesson plans to align with the needs and data gathered.
For Counseling Prevention and Intervention, I created a 6-session small group based on the behavior data and needs assessment data I gathered, and implemented the program with a small group of 7th-grade boys.

This is my Research Proposal paper covering the topic: The Effectiveness of EMDR on adolescents with PTSD due to abuse/neglect. This benchmark assignment aligns with the AIA standard of Research and Evaluation since I am researching a subject that can influence my counseling program and can help me evaluate the effectiveness of using certain techniques on students. 

This is the third and final case conceptualization I did for the courses at Liberty University. As it is one of my benchmarks, I am including it here to show my understanding of what a case conceptualization is. This assignment aligns with the AIA standard Diversity and Advocacy, since I used the knowledge of the student to implement an individual program plan that was culturally and developmentally appropriate for the client I was working with. 

This is my small group proposal plan. This assignment aligns the most with the AIA standard Collaboration and Consultation since I had to create the needs assessment, then collaborate with teachers and staff to get the group started. 

This benchmark assignment had me reporting on a case scenario, a qualitative study on the effects of technology on youth. This assignment aligns well with the AIA standard Research and Evaluation, since I was researching the effects of technology and evaluating the research for all of its methods, weaknesses, or further study points.

This is my culminating project completed from internship 1. It was a classroom unit lesson, containing four lessons taught to first-grade students. This project aligns most with the AIA standard Counseling Prevention, and Intervention, since it covers a unit lesson I taught to students to prevent and intervene in behaviors seen in the classroom.

In the paper, I am going over the developmental stages of my life and the influence it has on my counseling career; therefore, it is self-reflection and recognizing my own weaknesses as well as potential bias I may have due to the way I grew up.

The paper has me assessing the usability and quality of the O*Net career assessment by applying it to myself first and checking answers for accuracy, then evaluating whether the assessment should be used with students.

It covers SEL, academic, and career development program ideas for a full counseling program that could cover all grades. This Counseling Brochure aligns the most with the AIA Standard Foundation, since it uses Ethical and Student standards to create a counseling program that aligns with the mission and vision of the school.

Throughout my years of school, I have had many assignments and papers that I have done that contribute to my learning to be a school counselor. I will share a few of my favorite and most meaningful ones.
The genogram project is related to a tool I can use to evaluate and plan a program or counseling sessions for one student. This assignment aligns well with the AIA standard Diversity and Advocacy, since I am studying the students' cultural and familial influences in their lives and using the information to guide best practices for the students. 

This was a collaboration assignment where I worked with a colleague to come up with one lesson plan for a small group. It focused on Emotional Regulation for high school grades. This was presented and taught in class. The AIA standard this applies to is collaboration and consultation, since the main focus was on collaborating with another school counselor to teach a lesson.

In this essay, I address my Educational Philosophy, which is focused on a student-centered approach (Carl Rogers). I talk about my philosophy regarding schools and learning, what my instructional practice looks like, and the connection to my role as a school counselor. I also discuss diversity and how I felt called to this job as a counselor. The AIA standard this aligns to is Leadership since it clearly states my personal philosophy and hw I apply my philosophy to my job.

This presentation showcases the elements of a School counseling program in language that is easy to understand while still containing the data and education of a professional. The presentation aligns with the AIA standard Leadership since it showcases my ability to present information about the school counseling program to parents.

Although not required, during my time at Brookhill Elementary, I completed another classroom unit lesson plan with two classes that needed more intensive lessons. The lessons contained in this classroom unit were project-based and covered a wide variety of social-emotional subjects. Both students and teachers enjoyed it.

A Presentation of a case study on a student covers my understanding of connecting ASCA and data collected from the IEP to showcase the case study for stakeholders to understand what we are doing for the student.

This paper is a review of the data gathered from the needs assessment conducted at my practicum site. It aligns with the AIA standard of leadership because I took the data gathered from the needs assessment and broke it down by grade level, and when they could be seen. Then used that data breakdown to build small-group and classroom unit lesson plans. Also, I used it to inform best practices in the counseling program as a whole.

The work that aligns with the AIA Collaboration and Consultation Standard is my Cultural Immersion Presentation Project. I consulted with a member of the Ugandan Community and an organization that works alongside the poor communities in the country to gather the information I learned and used to grow my cultural awareness. 

This paper contains a mock example of an IEP that includes transition out of high school into post-secondary decisions. It covers the mock student's current academic achievement level and the plan to work with him on those things. It was completed for one of my special education classes when I was pursuing my bachelor's in Educational Studies. It is a great example of the Academic Development AIA standard. The student's name mentioned on the paper is fake. 

For the AIA Research & Evaluation standard, I believe my Qualitative Report assignment. In this paper, I review a Qualitative Research Report and evaluate the research question, the type of study design used,  the themes that emerged, and how this study implicates the counseling field. Basically, I am evaluating the research for its importance and applicability towards my work. 

The work I want to present for the AIA standard of Assessment is my Career assessment paper. I use the O-Net assessment on myself to test its credibility and usability before using it with a student. In the paper, I cover my results and my evaluation of the tool when using it with students. 

For Diversity and Advocacy, I wanted to share my initial interview paper. This paper covers a fictional character who is Japanese and is based on making a referral for the student in the school to join the Summer Mission Trip. I cover the cultural influences and what he brings to the table that makes him a good candidate for the Summer Mission Trip.

The assignment that aligns well with this AIA standard is my PowerPoint presentation example covering a classroom unit lesson plan I taught in the Elementary setting, with interventions connected to data gathered in the school. 

My Ethical Vignette Paper outlines how I would apply applicable state and federal codes/laws and the ACA Ethical Codes to address an ethical dilemma. I was six when I was adopted into my family. My cultural background was very diverse because of this. My mom and dad were both in the military and are veterans. My dad stayed in the military until I was 14 years old. They had only two biological kids of their own and then they adopted 10 other kids including me. I have siblings from different cultural background, although they were all born American. Our family was a mixed pot. I had siblings that were Native American, Asian, French Moroccan, black, and Hispanic.

I was homeschooled all throughout my school years up until college. I attended a few community colleges in pursuit of my AA, including Big Bend Community College, and Spokane Community College. I graduated with my AA in 2018. I pursued my Bachelor's degree in Educational Studies with a minor in Special Education and Disability Studies and graduated from Eastern Washington University with that degree in 2023.

I have worked as a teacher for three years at Wildflowers Cooperative. Before that, I had experience in childcare, such as Sunday School Childcare for babies to Kindergarten-age kids, nanny/babysitting gigs, and event childcare worker. 

I have a paper I wrote earlier this year that still defines my current philosophy in Education and explains the reason for my Philosophy. This is also a benchmark assignment requirement.

During the Spring Quarter, I began working at West Limestone High School as an Intern. 

I have done my Practicum and my first Internship at Brookhill Elementary School. Although I also have gotten a chance to work my internship part time at Athens Intermediate School for the purpose of getting something hours working with the 4th and 5th grade levels.

I have been an event coordinator volunteer for this non-profit organization for over fourteen years. I have also been a volunteer teacher for their cooperatives for three years

I have often taken trips to Nevada, along the border. Oftentimes, I pass through Utah and Arizona to visit my adopted grandma, who lives on the border.  In the future, I think I might settle down there. 

When I was fourteen years old, our family packed up to move to Alabama. We drove by car down to Alabama on a family trip. When I was eighteen years old, we moved back up to Washington on a family emergency, and we also opted to travel there by car. After the family emergency was taken care of, my family moved back, and I stayed behind to finish college. Then I flew with my two dogs down to Alabama to be near my family again.

My Trip to Uganda a while back was a real eye opener for me. I went for my sister's wedding, but I also got a beautiful chance to see the amazing scenery of Uganda Africa
