I received my Bachelor of Science from John Carroll University in May 2017. I worked at GOJO Industries as a Quality Control Technician until I decided to continue my education at the University of Findlay College of Pharmacy in August 2021. I am currently a P4 pharmacy student and will earn my Doctor of Pharmacy in May 2025.
During my P1 year, I completed 50 hours of Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experience at Great Scot Pharmacy in Findlay, Ohio and 50 hours at Walgreens Pharmacy. During my P2 year, I completed 50 hours of Practice Experience at Omnicare of NW Ohio in Perrysburg, Ohio and 50 hours at Scarbrough Pharmacy in Findlay, Ohio. During my P3 year, I completed 50 hours of Practice Experience at Wyandot Memorial Hospital in Upper Sandusky, Ohio and 50 hours at ProMedica Flower Hospital in Sylvania, Ohio.
During my P4 year, I will be completing a total of nine, one month Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience rotations. I will complete six rotations at ProMedica Hospital (Hub Site), two rotations at Blanchard Valley Health Systems, and one rotation at The Ohio State University Veterinary Medical Center.
After I graduate in May 2025, I hope to have a career as a geriatric pharmacist in a long-term care facility.

Site: Blanchard Valley Health System
Description: During this rotation I worked closely with a hospital pharmacist who specializes in geriatrics. Activities completed during this rotation included completing comprehensive medication reviews on hospitalized geriatric patients, constructing pharmacotherapeutic plans for these patients, and counseling patients on discharge medications. My best work from this rotation was a 15-minute case presentation regarding heart failure. Attached is the PowerPoint that was presented to a group of pharmacists.

Site: The Ohio State University Veterinary Medical Center
Description: During this rotation I shadowed a clinical veterinary pharmacist. Activities completed during this rotation included verifying and checking orders, attending rounds with veterinarians and veterinary students, and compounding non-sterile medications following USP-795 standards. I was also able to attend an equine hock arthroscopy, where I worked with the veterinary anesthesiologist to become familiar with equine anesthetic agents. My best work from this rotation was a pharmacy newsletter to be hung in the hospital about the risks and benefits of compounding, along with a list of compounded medications that should be avoided in pets.

Site: ProMedica Toledo Hospital
Description: During this rotation I shadowed a NICU pharmacist. Activities completed during this rotation included vancomycin adjustments, assessing and monitoring neonatal medications, attending rounds with physicians, and presenting at Antimicrobial Stewardship meetings. My best work from this rotation was a topic discussion on gastroschisis with literature reviews.

Description: During this rotation I shadowed a hospital staff pharmacist. Activities completed during this rotation included verifying and checking hospital orders, adjusting warfarin dosages, vancomycin adjustments, and monitoring hospitalized patients. I was also able to spend time at Wildwood Orthopedic and Spine Hospital, where I attended a rotator cuff repair surgery and checked and reviewed medications needed before, during, and after surgery. My best work from this rotation was a journal club presented to pharmacists and other healthcare professionals.

Site: ProMedica Flower Hospital, Sylvania, OH
Description: During this rotation, I shadowed the oncology pharmacist. Activities completed during this rotation included rounding with practitioners and monitoring lab parameters and drug interactions. My best work from this rotation was a drug presentation on the novel drug, Zolbetuximab, that was presented to the nursing staff. A drug handout on Zolbetuximab was also created for the nurses "Drug Reference" binder.

Site: ProMedica Toledo Hospital
Description: During this rotation I shadowed several ambulatory care pharmacists. Activities completed during this rotation included assessing patient INRs, adjusting warfarin dosages, and creating bridge plans for warfarin patients. I also had the opportunity to lead numerous managed care appointments on heart failure, diabetes, weight loss management, and anticoagulation agents. Additionally, I was able to improve population health by contacting non-adherent patients and counseling them on the importance of medication adherence. My best work from this rotation was a topic discussion presented to several pharmacists on heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT).

Description: During this rotation, I shadowed the psychiatric pharmacist. Activities completed during this rotation included attending patient care team with psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, and psychiatric nurse practitioners. Additionally, I got the opportunity to counsel patients on their medications, construct pharmacotherapeutic plans on select patients, and complete medication reconciliation on patients in the psychiatric hospital. My best work from this rotation was a topic discussion presented on antipsychotics.

Site: ProMedica Toledo Hospital
Description: During this rotation, I shadowed the community pharmacy manager. Activities completed during this rotation included compounding non-sterile and hazardous medications following USP-795 standards. Additionally, I was able to work closely with the corporate agent for the 340B program, helping to prevent diversion and verify patient qualifications. I also created medication handouts and interprofessional PowerPoints for educational purposes. Furthermore, I was able to spend time with the Director of Pharmacy Operations, where I was able to create the organization's policy and procedure. My best work for this month includes the recall policy and procedure to exhibit my skills in operational management.

Description: During this rotation, I shadowed the internal medicine clinical pharmacist. Activities completed during this rotation included attending rounds with practitioners, counseling patients, constructing pharmacotherapeutic plans on select patients, and completing medication reconciliation on patients in the hospital setting. My best work from this rotation was a 10-minute disease state presentation on Cerebrovascular Accident presented to the clinical pharmacists, followed by a Q&A. Attached is the handout created for the presentation.

ProMedica Flower Hospital, a division of ProMedica Toledo Hospital, is a 315-bed community hospital serving Sylvania and the surrounding cities. Medical services include 24-hour emergency care, a cancer center, sleep center, surgery center, and other specialty healthcare services. I completed 50 hours at ProMedica Flower Hospital as an intern under Monica Patek from January 5, 2024 to March 1, 2024. During these hours, I completed comprehensive medication reviews on select patients, attended daily rounds, counseled patients on medications, monitored the Pyxis machines and crash carts, observed IV compounding of various chemotherapeutic agents, and compounded several IV admixtures using aseptic technique.

Pharmacy: Wyandot Memorial Hospital

Wyandot Memorial Hospital is a 24-bed community hospital serving Wyandot County and the surrounding areas. Medical services include 24-hour emergency care, urgent care, ambulatory care, oncology and hematology infusion services, and other specialty services. Wyandot employs four full-time pharmacists, along with three technicians and other hospital staff. I completed 50 hours at Wyandot Memorial Hospital as an intern under Scott Gier from July 3, 2023 to July 18, 2023. During these hours, I completed multiple comprehensive medication reviews, attended daily rounds, counseled patients on medications, and monitored the Pyxis machines and crash carts.

Pharmacy: Scarbrough Pharmacy
Preceptor: Carrie Scarbrough-Sampson, Pharm.D.
Scarbrough Pharmacy is a small, privately owned, community and compounding pharmacy that fills approximately one hundred prescriptions a day. Scarbrough employs two full-time pharmacists and one part-time pharmacist, along with 5 technicians and part-time staff. I completed 50 hours at Scarbrough Pharmacy as an intern under Carrie Scarbrough-Sampson, from December 12, 2022 to December 29, 2022. During these hours, I dispensed prescriptions, aided in the compounding process, spoke with other medical professionals, and got experience counseling patients on compounded drugs.

Preceptor: Adam McCabe, Pharm.D.
Omnicare offers pharmacy services to patients living in long-term healthcare facilities in and around North West, Ohio. The facility includes over ten pharmacists and many pharmacy technicians. I completed 50 hours at Omnicare as an intern under Adam McCabe, Pharm.D., from the beginning of October 2022 to November 2022. During these hours, I spent time checking for prescription errors, labeling IV medications, and speaking with other healthcare professionals about prescription concerns.

Pharmacy: Walgreens Pharmacy
Preceptor: Courtney Reynolds, Pharm.D.
Walgreens Pharmacy is one of the busiest community pharmacies in the Northwestern, Ohio region. Walgreens includes two full-time pharmacists, drop in pharmacists, and several technicians and interns. I completed 50 hours at Walgreens Pharmacy as an intern under Courtney Reynolds, Pharm.D., from December 15, 2021 to January 20, 2022. During these hours, I dispensed prescriptions, administered vaccinations, completed phone transfers, and counseled patients. I was also able to learn more about prescription insurance.

Pharmacy: Great Scot Pharmacy
Preceptor: Latanya Modd, RPh
Great Scot Pharmacy is a small, privately owned, community pharmacy that fills approximately one hundred prescriptions a day. Great Scot includes two full-time pharmacists and one full-time pharmacy technician. I completed 51 hours at Great Scot Pharmacy as an intern under Latanya Modd, RPh, from October 14, 2021 to November 19, 2021. During these hours, I dispensed prescriptions, administered vaccinations, learned how to do phone transfers, and got experience with patient billing and insurance. I was also able to counsel patients on their medications, complete partial prescriptions, and transcribe voicemails.
