I am fully vietnamese and have lived in New York my whole life. I went to elementary, middle, and high school in Long Island, and I am now attending St. John's University. I chose a career in pharmacy because my aunt was also a pharmacist and I thought it was interesting seeing how they worked with medicine. I always found it interesting that she always knew the most apropriate medications people needed based on their illness. Also, I wanted a career that was in the medical field and pharmacy was the least hands on. I hope to learn every day in order to graduate at a point where I am confident in helping others and saving lives as a pharmicist. I believe I can work and communicate well with others, building relationships to create a healthy "workspace". My goals include maintaining a gpa above 3.2, improve leadership and teamwork skils while also striving to have a positive outlook by staying excited about learning, even when times get rough. I can achieve these goals by studying harder everyday, trying to share my opinions more so I can guide others, and always keep my end goal of being a pharmacist in mind. Becoming a pharmacist is important to me because since I was young I knew this was the career path I would like to take. I want to be one to help those who are ill and also be someone my family and patients can come to for assistance in regards to medicine. I am someone who is always interested in learning new things , intelligent, honest, patient, and has good communication skills.

During my freshman year of high school, I was a time keeper for parent teacher conferences and it gave me community service hours. I don't remember the exact date or hours but it was for a day and I would say for approx. 3-4 hours. I made sure that each meeting was timed correctly and sending the next appointment in when the teacher was ready. I gained better communication skills from my experience.
During my sophomore year of high school, I was selected along with another student to participate in the Long Island Business Teacher's Association competition for fashion marketing, representing my high school. Students from different schools came and we all had to take an exam. Although I placed fourth, I still believe that it was a big accomplishment because when I went to the award ceromony to receive my plaque, I was able to represent my school and my teacher. I got to be apart of the top 5 amongst all of the competitors, which made me very proud of myself.
What surprised me about my strengths was that it accurately describes who I am as a person. I always try to take things above and beyond, above average, to get the best results possible. Hence why maximizer is a strength of mine. My relator strength comes from my will to always support and help everyone and positivity comes from always trying to have a positive attitude doing what I do, even during hard times. My futuristic strength is a result of always looking ahead and planning things out. My ideation strength comes from always being excited about new ideas and wanting to discover more. I plan on utilizing my strengths to help me accomplish my goals by working diligently with a positive mindset everyday and figuring out how to do things to the best of my abilities.
Being a pharmacist means to always be willing to give help and provide to patients in the best way possible regarding medicine and health. I chose pharmacy because I want to be able to help and provide to everyone especially Vietnamese patients who aren't able to speak english so well. I chose St. John's University because I knew they had a PharmD program and heard about how much help can be given to students and that the program was one of the best in the state.
