Transfer knowledge, skills, and behaviors acquired through formal and informal learning and life experiences to new situations.
CAPS265, Career Development 3, Graduation-Ready Portfolio Project Presentation: Associates. My project met this outcome because I applied the research, writing, and analysis skills I already learned to a new assignment. I evaluated multiple credible sources, integrated them using APA style, and used quotes and paraphrases to support my ideas accurately. By examining two points of view and applying academic writing strategies, I demonstrated my ability to transfer knowledge and skills to new situations effectively. View

Utilize appropriate current technology and resources to locate and evaluate information needed to accomplish a goal and then communicate findings in visual, written, and/or oral formats.
ENGL202, Research and Writing, Career Development Research Paper Portfolio Project. My ENGL202 research project met this outcome because I used current technology and credible academic resources to find, analyze and use information effectively. I identified two points of view, selected reliable sources, and incorporated quotes and paraphrases while following APA style. I showed ethical use of information through proper citation and a complete references page. The final paper communicates my findings, is well-organized, and reflects my written communication skills. Analyze and design intervention strategies to improve social policies impacting client systems at individual, organizational, and community levels.
HUSS450, Public Policy and Social Advocacy, HUSS450 Portfolio Project. This project met the outcome by helping me to analyze a vulnerable population and create advocacy strategies that could improve social policies that affect them at multiple levels. By explaining the group’s needs, summarizing the law that should be changed, and comparing different advocacy methods, I evaluated how each strategy could create real policy impact. Including pros, cons, solutions, and ethical guidelines helped me design interventions that support individuals, organizations, and the community. View

Analyze the impact and interaction of public policy issues with human services, including legal considerations and funding mechanisms related to non-profit, private, and public human services agencies.
HUSS130, Cultural Competence in the Health Services, HUSS130 Report. This project met the outcome by helping me connect public policy issues to actual experiences in human services. When reflecting on my IAT results, I evaluated how personal biases can interact with laws, agency practices, and funding decisions in nonprofit, private, and public settings. Analyzing the topics helped me consider how cultural competence can affect policies and services. This reflection showed how legal and policy structures shape the clients’ experiences. View

Demonstrate professional competencies related to the successful planning and implementation of human services, inclusive of values, attitudes, and ethics common to the field.
HUSS360, Communication and Interviewing Skills for Human Services, HUSS360 Portfolio Project. This project met the outcome by showing how professional competencies are involved in every stage of planning and delivering human services. By doing a mock intake interview, selecting assessments, and reflecting on verbal/ nonverbal communication, I demonstrated important skills. The project also connected values, ethics, and legal requirements to decision making, client documentation, and follow up communication. This showed how ethical guidelines and professional attitudes shape service implementation. View

Projects: Summer Storm Wortham
Assess needs, design a plan of action for an identified problem, implement the plan systematically and evaluate its effectiveness.
HUSS125, Family Theory and Services, HUSS125 Memo. This project met the outcome by assessing the needs of the cultural group that was chosen and designing a plan that considered history, values, and communication patterns. When researching and using primary and secondary sources, I examined assumptions and adjusted my perspective based on evidence. The memo demonstrated implementation through analysis and organized presentation, and the reflection evaluated the effectiveness of this learning by showing growth in cultural awareness and reduced bias. Demonstrate an understanding of human conditions and factors which present societal challenges as well as those that promote successful human functioning.
HUSS235, Crisis Intervention, HUSS235 Portfolio Project This project met the outcome by showing an understanding of human conditions that make societal challenges and factors that support successful functioning. Using the Hybrid Model of Crisis Intervention, I studied this scenario’s stressors, resources, and coping issues. The project had a multiple step crisis plan, emphasized safety and stabilization, and gave tailored family recommendations to build resilience. The work linked theory to practice and showed how informed interventions can promote recovery and long-term well-being. View

Demonstrate knowledge of the structure and dynamics of individuals, groups, families, organizations, communities, and society as they fit within the historical development of human service delivery.
HUSS220; Theory, Assessment, and Intervention of Addictions; HUSS220 Theory, Assess, and Intervention This project met the outcome because it applied the Hybrid Model of Crisis Intervention to show an understanding of how individuals, families, and systems interact during addiction related crises. It includes a detailed intervention plan, explains group and community resource involvement, and provides recommendations for the family. The project connects theories to practice, demonstrates how human service delivery has developed over time and how recent approaches lead assessment and intervention. View

Follow established methods of inquiry and mathematical reasoning to form conclusions and make decisions.
MATH309, Statistics, MATH309 Portfolio Project. This project met the outcome by applying statistical methods to draw accurate conclusions from population and sample data. Visual representations support interpretation, demonstrating good mathematical reasoning. The project connects them to real-life, community, and career situations, showing how data driven decision making works in real world settings. The explanations show a good understanding of statistical inquiry and its value problem solving. View

Employ strategies for reflection on learning and practice in order to adjust learning processes for continual improvement.
PHIL310, Logic and Reasoning, PHIL310 Portfolio Project. This project met the outcome because I reflected on my reasoning process while breaking down and symbolizing the selected argument. By analyzing it step-by-step, creating a counterargument, and responding with evidence, I strengthened my ability to evaluate arguments. The correct symbolization, lack of syntax errors, and alignment between the verbal and symbolic forms show that I adapted my learning strategies, improved my accuracy, and applied logical methods for growth in reasoning skills.
