Community Loan Fund
I started my internship in September 2021, shadowing their current bookkeeper. I have learned a lot from this internship, and I'm grateful I had this work experience in the accounting field. The biggest thing I've taken from this internship is that it's never too late to learn new things. The current accounting software they are using is the desktop version, and I'm only used to the new online version of QuickBooks. It was great seeing how they used the old version, which allowed me to compare the new with the old because it's always good to see where things originated from. A couple of weeks ago, an opportunity presented itself where we had to use the new online version, and I had the chance to show these skills I have learned in class and apply them to a real-life scenario. That was a crowning moment for me.

Alayah Henry
It’s been four years since I left my country, and I have learned a lot more than just sitting at home and not doing anything. I made a bold decision to leave and get a higher education to better myself in life. In high school, I was an active member of the track and field team, the badminton team, and a member of Peace for Champs, and what I took from those experiences were teamwork, responsibility, and time management. I think these skills have contributed greatly to my becoming an accountant. I'm currently completing my associate degree, being a student worker for both the academic and financial departments and completing my accounting internship at the Community Loan Fund which has given me real-life experience. I will be continuing my education in the bachelor's degree program in Business, and I hope that this new journey I take will be even better.
