Supervisor of Electrical Maintenance
|
My academic work and professional training in electrical safety have centered on developing a strong understanding of NFPA 70E standards and their practical application in the workplace. Through continued coursework, hands on experience, and leadership responsibilities within the Department of Environmental Services, I have gained advanced knowledge of arc flash prevention, hazard risk assessment, lockout tagout procedures, and safe work practices for energized and de energized electrical systems.
My studies have focused on interpreting electrical safety regulations, teaching the principles of shock and arc flash protection, and demonstrating how to create and maintain an electrically safe work environment. As I progressed academically, I incorporated these concepts into real world scenarios by assisting in safety planning, reviewing equipment labeling and PPE requirements, and guiding staff through safe operating procedures.
This academic foundation has allowed me to grow into the role of an NFPA 70E instructor, where I teach employees how to recognize electrical hazards, apply protection boundaries, select appropriate PPE, and follow compliant procedures that reduce risk and support a strong safety culture. My goal as an instructor is to ensure that every worker gains the knowledge and confidence needed to perform electrical tasks safely, protect themselves and their team, and meet the highest standards of compliance.
My goal is to modernize and enhance the county wide electrical and fiber infrastructure by developing long term maintenance plans, implementing strategic upgrades, and improving system reliability across all facilities. As supervisor, I will continue guiding my team through complex projects, promoting cross training, and leveraging new technologies to support public safety, operational continuity, and future growth within the county.
My goal is to continue strengthening the electrical safety culture within the Department of Environmental Services by expanding NFPA 70E training for all staff, improving lockout tagout procedures, and ensuring that every team member has the knowledge and equipment needed to work safely around energized systems. I aim to lead initiatives that reduce risk, increase compliance, and support a safer and more efficient work environment for the entire department.
