A pharmacist is a doctor that specializes in drugs and medicine, A pharmacist makes these drugs and medicines through an understanding of chemicals. For example, what sorts of chemicals make up a certain drug and what drugs are used for specific situations. A pharmacist also has to have an understanding of their patients' situations and know them as people. This shows that they understand that everyone comes from different places, has different bodies, medical conditions, and backgrounds. Thus, pharmacists must recognize that not everyone can take the same medicines or dosages of a medicine. A successful pharmacist has all of these qualities.
I personally chose pharmacy as my major because I believe it is the best career path for me. I have always had a love for science subjects since elementary school all the way up until high school. I rarely found a subject boring and have always liked discovering the true nature of the world through these science courses. I specifically chose pharmacy because I get to learn science while also getting the future privilege to help people daily.
I chose to study pharmacy at St. John's University for many different reasons. One reason was that this program is linear and compact. I found that a 6-year program was much better than the usual 7 years most programs use. I also chose St. Johns for pharmacy because I don't have to compete with my classmates to earn a spot for the program. Instead, my classmates and I are already accepted into the program. This allows us to collaborate and study together as friends and partners without having to worry about beating someone for a spot in the program.
