The first pertains to my career. As a live streamer and online content creator, I make a living from creating content based on video games, specifically, competitive video games. As such, experience in a competitive video game environment adds both credibility and enhanced insight to my content.
The second reason is that Bryant & Stratton College was the first college in the state of WI to offer a varsity eSports program. As such, I went through the only eSports recruitment process available in the state, and am currently a student, which offers the opportunity to become an assistant eSports coach. There was quite literally, no other option.
I have over 7 years live streaming and coaching experience, 10 years management experience with a retail store of 200 employees, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. As a current varsity athlete of the Bryant & Stratton eSports program, I am familiar with its strengths and weaknesses and believe proper application of my skill set under the title of assistant coach will help expand and refine the program.
As a current student holding a 4.0 GPA, I also believe my presence will be received by my teammates as a pseudo-guidance counselor, a concept many have recently left behind when graduating high school. In addition to the services offered by the school, having a familiar and relatable Assistant Coach with whom the athletes feel comfortable confiding in, is infinitely valuable to both their own education, the overall success of the varsity eSports program, and the college as a whole.
Three things I learned about Bryant & Stratton that I did not know before are their mission statement, their headquarters, and information about Dr. Quan Nguyen, their eSports athletic director. Pertaining to the mission statement, I learned that Bryant & Stratton College offers a personalized career education and experience leading to high-demand professions, so graduates are prepared for their careers and life pursuits. I learned Bryant & Stratton headquarters are in Buffalo, NY. Lastly, I learned that Dr. Quan Nguyen has a masters degree from UW Madison, and that he is also a professor in Medical Assisting at Bryant & Stratton.
Using this information, I am able to correctly choose my degree program, choosing one that will benefit and further my live streaming and content creation career. I have also used this information to speak with Dr. Quan regarding the opportunity to assistant coach.

This project met the information literacy and communication outcome because it required the use of current technology, such as phones and computers, and resources, such as the internet, to locate and evaluate information needed to accomplish the goal of completing the project, and to then communicate the findings in written format via the typed final submission.
