This year I will soon be entering into the rigorous process of applying for a fellowship. I plan to continue networking with individuals with the same goals and find mentors who can help me transition from my academic life and real world practice. My rotation this summer is my first introduction to the pharmaceutical industry setting and my goal here is to observe and explore the various functional areas as well as engage with the workflow processes these departments navigate. Here I would like to enhance my business acumen, navigate the competitive nature of the pharmaceutical landscape, and build a strong foundation in business strategy within the healthcare sector. I would also like to develop my ability to research and communicate data in both writing and public speaking to various audiences. It's important the I expand my professional network by connecting with current fellows, and identify role models. My ultimate goal on rotation is to pinpoint the functional area that best aligns with my strengths and interests.
Personal Goals
I hope to start traveling more with friends and family across the US. I would like to try new things like dancing, ice skating, and gardening. I also want to get better at cooking and baking, and start going to the gym on a consistent basis.
I would like to become more comfortable with counseling patients. This goal is important to me because I do not have much experience in this outside of the school setting. This can be accomplished in the community setting, however, it's is normally busy especially with the weight the pandemic has placed on the jobs of pharmacy personales. This goal is meaningful because my introcution to pharmacy schooling was wrapped around COVID. While this was great at first and provided an extrodinary experience, it's not reallistic for this to be my only experience in pharmacy school. There is so much to learn in pharmacy and it's unfortunate to see pharmacist's too busy to even have time counsel. I will accomplish this goal by communicating with my staff at work, and hope they understand that I'm not gaining the best experiennce. While time must be spend mitigating the COVID-19 pandemic, it's important to also gain the education necessary so that I can be the pharmacist I wanted to be when I walked into this school.

Beyond my academic responsibilities, I am active within Phi Delta Chi, work at Rite Aid Pharmacy (3 years) and volunteer at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox church in Bridgeport CT.
My name is Anna Sandalidis, and I grew up in a small town in Redding, CT. I'm currently a PharmD Candidate at the University of Connecticut, School of Pharmacy. My greatest achievement is not simply being accepted in UConn’s professional program but the effort that was put in over time. While I think it would be ideal to have my studies as my one and only focus, I took on my academics with a mixture of working between a part- and full-time jobs. This challenged my limits and ultimately taught me how to learn from my own burnout. I’ve learned and continue to search for better ways to take care for my physical and mental well-being.
The goals I have are always evolving as I soar through my academics and learn more about what I like and the skills I’ve come to develop. I like meeting new people, being involved, and engaged in new day-to-day activities. I plan to graduate from UConn with PharmD and MBA in hopes to follow my dream of travelling and indulging in different cultures. I hope to learn and open my mind to more than what I’ve come to know here in Connecticut.
