Write Reflection Here:: A patient approached the register intending to get three prescriptions filled. The prescription must have been received and should have been ready, according to the patient, who claimed to have contacted the prescriber's office and left a message. I discovered and informed the patient that the pharmacy had no records indicating a prescription had been delivered in their name after pulling up the patient's profile. The patient insisted repeatedly that I should not attend to them or give them incorrect information if I am unsure. I continued attempting to emphasize that everything is handled by the system and that any accessible prescription would be visible. I described the problem to the pharmacist. The only difference is that the prescription was delivered under a different drug that is an equivalent to when the pharmacist checked the patient profile, which validated what the patient had been saying. Looking back, I should have done more to defuse the situation by ensuring the patient that we would do all in our power to get their prescription to them as quickly as possible. Once the RPh confirms the prescription has not been received, I will have him or her check into their profile and, if necessary, phone their prescriber's office. The patient is happy in this way.

Write Reflection Here:: I worked for CVS Pharmacy for around six years, and I've always thought that retail is a perfect fit for me. I had never worked forWalgreens before. I started my rotation, so I was quite happy with the facility I was working at. This is due to how well-organized it was and how much fresh material the staff taught me. I learned how to authenticate prescriptions and evaluate the legitimacy of a prescription or medicine. I learned more about the procedures for taking inventories and administering vaccinations. Using the right approach I had learned from my preceptor, I assisted the pharmacist with the booster and flu shots and administered them to patients. The entire experience made me question whether I should include working at Walgreen in my list of potential careers once I graduate from college. Overall, it was a wonderful experience that I'm pleased I had since I learned a lot and met some incredible individuals.

Please provide one example of an interprofessional interaction that you had during this APPE rotation in one to two sentences.: I had the opportunity to visit a rehab facility and learn about the responsibilities and goals of the medical staff there during this rotation. In Worcester, I had the opportunity to tour two facilities: Washburn House Extended Care and Open Sky Residential. Where the patients were psych patients who also struggled to live independently because of addiction. It was fascinating to watch my preceptor make the time for us to go and make sure the patient will have the medications on time, which is different from other retail pharmacies like CVS and Walgreen. In these facilities, we delivered emergency medications on hand since most patients need these medications. I had the chance to provide two shots to a patient in a facility who need both his zoster and flu shots. My preceptor taught me the proper technique for administering two shots in one arm as well as how to clean the area and complete the necessary paperwork for insurance. In two significant presentations I had with my preceptor, I discussed the history of the hyperthyroidism disease and the medications that patients must take and maintain to take. The second presentation was for the antipsychotic medication "vraylar," and I covered its history as well as the significance of its use in psychiatric facilities.
