Description of Activities: | During my time volunteering at the flu clinic, I provided flu counseling services to students, faculty, and patients at UT Tyler. In addition to offering these counseling services, I had the opportunity to observe the UT Tyler nursing students administering flu vaccines. This experience allowed me to gain insights into various vaccine administration techniques and best practices within the healthcare field. |

During his time in San Antonio, he worked at Sam's Club Pharmacy for two years, where he gained experience in immunizations, prescription processing, insurance procedures, and pharmacy policies and procedures. He also became proficient in the Sam's Club Pharmacy software and contributed to vaccine clinics and health fairs. Additionally, Hector joined Champ's Medical Pharmacy, where he specialized in both sterile and non-sterile compounding, preparing formulations such as lotions, gels, creams, ointments, troches, and capsules.
After spending three years in San Antonio, Hector moved to Tyler, Texas, in August 2024, following his acceptance into The University of Texas at Tyler Fisch College of Pharmacy. He is currently a member of the UTT FCOP Class of 2028.
Hector's pharmacy career is dedicated to his family. After earning his PharmD in 2028, he plans to pursue a residency with a focus on ambulatory care and renal transplant pharmacy.
1:
By the end of my second semester of P1 year, I will improve my study efficiency by creating Quizlet flashcards after each lecture instead of waiting until exam time like I did during the first semester.
This will allow me to reinforce concepts while preparing for an exam and reduce time spent preparing study materials before exams.
I will track my progress by ensuring I complete flashcards for each lecture within 24 hours and use them for regular review. By maintaining this habit, I aim to enhance retention, reduce last-minute cramming, and improve my academic performance.
2:
By the end of the semester, I will improve my grades by identifying and correcting bad habits, limiting distractions, exercising regularly, and staying true to myself and my goals. I will achieve this by creating a structured study schedule, reducing time spent on non-productive activities, and implementing active learning strategies. I will track my progress by monitoring my exam and assignment grades while making necessary adjustments to my study habits. This goal is a necessity for my success in pharmacy school and will help me build the discipline needed for my future career as a licensed and registered pharmacist.
My personal goal is to remain focus and understand when it's time to socialize and when I need to prioritize my education.
My personal goal #2 is to remain in constant communication with my support system in California.
Professional goal:
My professional goal is to gain a deeper understanding of the community pharmacist’s role during my IPPE rotation, particularly in final verification and Drug Utilization Reviews (DURs). I want to learn what pharmacists look for during verification and how they determine when patient counseling is necessary. To achieve this by the end of my IPPE 2 rotation, I will stay actively engaged, ask questions, and observe the decision-making process to strengthen my clinical knowledge and practical skills.
