I studied at Bryant & Stratton College to one day become a paralegal. I'm excited about the opportunity to learn from experienced attorneys and contribute to a team that advocates for justice. I've always been fascinated by the legal system and enjoy research and writing. Being a paralegal allows me to be involved in meaningful cases while utilizing my skills in any area of the law. My dream is to one day be a senior paralegal with a large law firm. I want to be able to help others and have a positive impact on the lives of others, while still being able to learn and opportunities for career growth.
Learning how to effectively research legal databases, statutes, case law, and precedents to gather information relevant to a case, and then translate that research into clear and concise legal documents like briefs, motions, and memorandums. Acquiring skills to organize and manage case files, including client information, documents, timelines, and deadlines, often utilizing legal software. Preparing how to conduct client interviews, gather relevant facts, and interview potential witnesses to build a comprehensive case narrative. While understanding the ethical rules governing paralegals and the legal profession, including confidentiality and appropriate communication with clients. Preparing for a career as a paralegal while assisting lawyers and administrators of law-related occupations in providing efficient legal services to the public.
Important skills as a professional paralegal include:
- Prepare legal documents like contracts, discovery requests, and settlement agreements.
