Shannon Staton is the Sr Director of Pharmacy Solutions at CORE Higher Education Group. Shannon leads the READINESS product team and handles the business development, product management, strategy, and content to support our higher education, pharmacy, and health system clients. Shannon specializes in creating and providing learning solutions to help CORE clients achieve their educational initiatives. Shannon is a pharmacist by training and serves as a preceptor for six Colleges of Pharmacy. She has a passion for the profession of pharmacy, technology, and creating innovative solutions to support the higher education and healthcare markets.

Responsible for developing and managing READINESS, a digital eLearning platform, providing custom eLearning Centers for academic institutions, pharmacies/health systems, top healthcare organizations.
Develop the product roadmap from concept to market launch.

- Participate in Viekira Pak Managed Markets’ project to increase prescriptions of Viekira Pak by making cold calls to prescribers
- Institute and promote clinical programs developed by CDMI to insurance companies aimed at increasing STAR ratings: ACEI/ARB clinical program for diabetes patients; diabetes adherence clinical program; rheumatoid arthritis clinical program
- Write therapeutic drug class reviews (GLP-1 agonists, intrauterine devices, and intra-articular steroid injections) to decide best product based on clinical effectiveness, safety, compliance and cost for inclusion in client formularies
- Participate in Drug Development Pipeline project to become knowledgeable about products coming to market and current therapies available to analyze best fit for client formularies
- Effectively communicate to pharmacists and prescribers
- Work closely with the Business Development team
- Conduct biweekly presentations using PowerPoint on pharmacogenomics, CROs, third party payers, medical devices, biotechnology, and pharmaceutical industry topics

- Compose PowerPoint presentations for Praxbind and Opdivo to present at P&T committee
- Create drug information pamphlets and present to nursing staff for Praxbind and Opdivo
- Provide chronic disease patient counseling for patients
- Participate in ambulatory Coumadin Clinic (check INR, provide patients with education on controlling INR, and identify patients with a clinical need for dosing changes)
- Participate in ICU and SCU rounding with the complete healthcare team
- Complete pharmacokinetic dosing protocols, renal dosing protocols, antibiotic stewardship reviews
- Create PowerPoint presentation for Precedex and present at P&T committee (added to formulary)
- Create PowerPoint presentation for Praxbind and present at P&T committee (added to formulary)
- Participate in ACEI/ARB protocol for Blue Cross Blue Shield patients
- Compose Vitamin D drug information brochure for patients
- Present Precedex information to nursing staff including: how to use, proper patient population, clinical effectiveness, and safety concerns
